Mike Yerina, 56, of Dover, died Thursday, July 18, 2013, at his home. He was born June 7, 1957, at Cincinnati, Ohio. He retired in 1998 from the Russellville Police Department after over 21 years of service and achieving the rank of Lieutenant. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and served as the secretary of the Russellville Police Retirement Fund. He was the owner and operator of Mid-State Cabinets in Russellville, and loved to cook and do woodworking. He was a member of the Russellville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, where he was the pianist, a trustee and a member of the Men's Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by a brother, Duane Yerina. Survivors include his wife, Kayla Yerina; a daughter, Katy Yerina of Dover; his parents, Tom and Martha Yerina of Hot Springs Village; two brothers and sisters-in-law and their families, Gary and Gwen Yerina of Texas, and their daughters, Brittany Burt and Aubrey, and Kevin and Linda Yerina of Russellville, and their daughters, Ashley and Devynn, and their sons, Greg Daffron and James Yerina; and a sister-in-law, Susan Yerina of Magnolia. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the Russellville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, officiated by the Rev. Brian Heinen and Chaplain Paul Northcut. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery near Dover with honor guard provided by the Arkansas Police Chief's Association, under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville. Active pallbearers are Blake Wilson, Ben Cross, Ron Stobaugh, Ben Hawkins, Carey James and Michael Joe Hemmer. Honorary pallbearers are James Scheible, Mike Creel, Chaplain Paul Northcut and members of the Men's Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, from 5-7 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Judy Murphy, 126 Lakeview Circle, Russellville, Arkansas 72802, or the Russellville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 800 East 16th Street, Russellville, Arkansas 72802.
