We feel a great sense of loss for the Tekippe family, the Archdiocese of New Orleans and all whom Terry touched with his wisdom, wit, and love. I was a classmate of Bernie at St. Ben and two years behind Terry. He was on the board for my MRE orals at Notre Dame and I worked with him when he was director of the religious education office in New Orleans. Several times when he visited family in Iowa, he passed through St. Louis. Jane and I have joyful memories of taking him to a neighborhood Italian restaurant, where he requested wine from a particular area of Italy, and they had it. And, in New Orleans, going to a Japanese restaurant where he talked to the staff in Japanese, which he learned before his travels to Japan. We always enjoyed the stories of his travels, his writings, and his international work.

Fr. Tekippe was a professor of mine both at St. Ben's and Notre Dame. He was a scholar and called us to be scholarly in our pursuit of theology...preferring the true grappling with theology rather that a surface approach. He had time to chat through concerns. I thank God for his life and for the training he offered to me and so many others through the years.
Know I offer my sympathy to the family at this time of loss.

We'll always remember when Terry and our son, Michael, traveled to Guatamala in their early days as seminarians.
Words cannot express the sympathy for the loss of this wonderful man, priest and friend.
Our prayers are extended to Mrs. Tekippe and family.
Sincerely,
Mike and Leah Early

We met Terry at Fordham University more than 35 years ago. He was a part of our "Fordham" group who got together during the years to celebrate our friendship and to keep up with each other. Terry was a dedicated and relentless seeker of the truth; always interested in what was going on in the lives of others. He always made the extra effort to keep in touch and maintain ties of friendship. His warmth and friendship will be missed.

I met Terry in 1958 at St Ben's (I was in the Class 0f 1963)and we remained friends ever since. He was always smiling and was a joy to talk to and be with. He was one of the gentlest and most brilliant men I have ever known. My heart felt condolences to his family. We will all miss him.

Terry and I were grad students at Fordham circa 1968-1970. He visited me up here in Canada on a number of occasions. We has some great times both in New York and skiing near Ottawa. He was an old friend and will be dearly missed.

What a terrible loss for those of you that were able to enjoy Monsignor Tekippe's friendship and love. Our path crossed Monsignor Tekippe's when he graciously performed our daughter's marriage ceremony. Considering he had only briefly met my daughter and our family, he was able to convey the essence of our family spirit in his remarks. His joy, enthusiasm, and sincerity were most welcome during a very special occasion in our lives. We feel blessed to have shared time with him. Our prayers are with you.
