Myrtle Lee (Nee Baize) Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 18, 2025.
Myrtle Locke Lee (nee Baize), 98, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025. Born on April 23, 1926, in Daisetta, Liberty County, Myrtle lived a long life marked by independence, adventure, and kindness.

An exceptional seamstress, Myrtle's creativity shone through in everything she did, from making dresses and costumes for loved ones to painting beautiful designs on clothing. She loved to travel and was always eager for new adventures, often with the Sterling Silver Singers choir group. Even in her later years, her zest for life never waned.

Above all, Myrtle was known for her warmth and generosity. Her devotion to family and her ability to make every moment special will be deeply missed. She is survived by her son, Stephen Gregory (Donna, whom she cherished as a daughter), grandchildren Jennifer (Mike), Alicia (Jason), and Lauren, and five great-grandchildren: Malin, Shane, Clara, Cullen, and Ian. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ken Locke and Norman Lee, children Cyndy Roper (George) and Kyle Gregory, and grandson Ryan Gregory.

A celebration of Myrtle's life will be held on March 22, 2025, at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. Visitation at 1:00pm and service at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Spindletop Museum in Beaumont and the Fulton House Mansion in Rockport, both of which she loved volunteering for.

Her love, wisdom, and adventurous spirit will live on in the stories and memories she leaves behind.

Myrtle was beautifully humble and kind. Every time I had the joy to visit with her I would tell her she looked like she stepped of the cover of a fashion magazine.
I enjoyed her dedication to singing in our church choir and the many thoughtful conversations we had at church.

I´m sorry that I just saw this and didn´t attend the service. Myrtle and my Dad shared many happy years together. Myrtle was an exceptionally kind person who certainly lived a full and rewarding life.

I was fortunate to move next door to Myrtle in Rockport and we became close friends. She loved to let my little dog sit on her lap and play with him. Almost every day we would visit with her and she would play with my dog and talk on her front porch while neighbors would wave to her and come over to talk with her. She even told me I was the best neighbor she ever had and I will always remember her forever. Miss her smile.

Myrtle was one of the nicest people I know. I loved singing with her and Norman, than having lunch somewhere. Her wedding and the celebration was so much fun. I will miss her even more now that she is gone. she spent time with my mother, Sue Kent, at mom's house playing I've Got It and tea parties and just having fun, Sunday School parties and Garage Sale at Trinity. I will miss you Myrtle.

I loved you and will miss you.

By the way, I still have that precious little stuffed dot you made for me.
