Nancy Faulkner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 17, 2024.
Nancy Allison Faulkner passed away peacefully in Houston, TX on November 15, 2024, at the age of 68.

Nancy was born in New York City on February 29, 1956 to Morris and Beatrice (Rosen) Smergel. Her childhood summers were spent on the Jersey shore, where she developed a love for the beach that continued throughout her life. Her family eventually moved to Bogota, NJ, where she met her husband, Richard Faulkner. The pair married in Tampa, FL in 1976, and enjoyed years of travel as Rich's army career took them around the world.

In the early 1990s, Nancy, Rich, and their two daughters settled back in New Jersey, where Nancy enjoyed a long career as a nurse with Holy Redeemer Hospice. Those years were also full of summer days spent on local beaches, winter trips to warmer beaches, countless books read, and many delicious recipes cooked, baked, and shared with family and friends.

The final decade of Nancy's life was spent in Houston, TX, where she spent as much time as possible with her beloved grandsons, gardening, learning to paint with watercolors, and watching her ever disappointing but still much loved Mets.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Richard Faulkner; their daughters Rebecca (José) Colón and Melanie (Kevin) Mohr; and her grandsons Harrison and Elliott Mohr. She is also survived by her brother Henry (Miko) Smergel, along with numerous loving relatives across multiple generations. A private memorial service will be held in New Jersey.
