Nancy Fletcher Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 23 to Jan. 24, 2023.
Nancy Janssen Fletcher was happiest when entertaining a crowd with her vast repertoire of songs, taking requests while folks sang along or just listened while she played the piano. She used no music, playing by ear and memory. She continued to pursue her passion until January 15, 2023, when Nancy passed away peacefully in Kennebunk, Maine, at the age of 93. Born in Manhattan, she lived most of her life in Bronxville, N.Y. She spent summers on Kezar Lake in Center Lovell, Maine, for over 50 years. Nancy graduated from Bronxville High School and Pine Manor. She started teaching piano at age 16 and continued well into her 80s. In her 50s, she began performing at clubs, corporate functions and private parties. She published a number of CD's during her years. She had a restaurant gig until she turned 90. She also was an accomplished tennis player, ice skater and golfer, once hitting a hole in one. Nancy was vivacious, creative and outgoing, and will be sorely missed. She loved life and everyone she encountered. She is survived by her children, Louise Fletcher and husband Robert Stasey, Bennett Fletcher and wife Stefania, and Greg Fletcher, and by three grandchildren, Nick, Ryan and Nadia Fletcher. Donations in her memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
