Nancy NEAL Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 27, 2019.
NEAL, Nancy Jean Nancy Jean Neal "Nanny" passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2019. Nancy was born to Edwin and Mildred Neal on August 29, 1952 in Tulsa, OK. She graduated from Glasgow High School and later achieved a bachelor's degree in social work from the University of Montana. Nancy was very involved in the community throughout her life. Early on, she worked as the main liaison and managed The Indian Center in Missoula, MT. She moved to Spokane in the early 1990's and worked for Spokane Mental Health and then worked at Child Protective Services until she retired. She was a strong advocate for Native American, women's, and children rights. In her later years she loved to garden and feed birds. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her son Jack Dunsmore, daughters Star Beth and Asenah Neal, sister Donna Neal, and her grandchildren Sonny, Kian, Brody, and Lily.

I don't know if it's too late to send my condolences, however I just found out that Nancy passed. Nancy was my best friend for the years that she lived in Great Falls. Many times I would wake up to find that she had come to my house in the middle of the night and spent hours talking to my mom who loved her very much. We shared so many laughs and adventures, even when she moved to Glasgow, I would take the train to spend school breaks with her. I saw her several times after she moved to Spokane but we lost touch with each other as many people do. She was so proud of her children and we talked about them many times. I don't know if Star and Ahsena remember me but we met several times. You girls were so beautiful. Jack was a young boy the last time I saw him but he was the apple of her eye. Nancy will always hold a special place in my heart and I'm struggling to hold back the tears. I wish I had seen her again - she's been in my heart and mind a lot lately. I'd like to send prayers and big hugs to all of Nancys family and friends during this time of sorrow! I had lost contact with Nancy after she graduated from high school but loved her very much as a friend in our high school days! I must say we had a lot of fun and I'm so sad we never kept in touch!! My email address is debba53@ yahoo.com if the family would contact me cuz I think I have some pretty neat pictures from our younger days!! I am heartbroken over the loss of a lovely friend!! I'm sad to hear of Nancy's passing. She was a good friend when living in Glasgow. Thought of her often, wondering where she was living. Prayers to the family!
