Mr. Nicholas C. "Nick" Fountas a 40 year resident of Malden died Thursday, April 28, 2005 at the Sunrise Assisted Living in Peabody where he had been a resident for 2 years and received loving care that brought a smile to him each day. Nick was a baker for 35 years having worked for the Dorothy Muriel Bakery and also Wonderbread. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels with the Mystic Valley Elder Services for 7 years. Nicholas served in the US Army during WWII and he was a member of the American Legion Post #324, the George K. Menichias Lodge in West Roxbury and the Bethesda Lodge of Masons AF&AM in Newtonville. Nicholas was the devoted husband of the late Ethel (Coniaris) Fountas. Father of Emily "Kim" Pittaway of Tustin, CA, George W. Fountas of Niceville, FL, Stephanie C. Paradis and her husband Paul of Tewksbury and William C. Fountas and his long time companion, Susan David of Melrose. Brother of the late Peter Fountas and Ethel "Tina" Higgins. Grandfather of Salina N. Fountas of Niceville, FL and Catherine Pittaway of Tustin, CA. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral Service at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., MELROSE Tuesday May 3 at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 PM. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett, MA. Gifts in his memory may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923 or to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472. Arrangements by the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose.
