Dear Christine, Nicky, Illya, Greg & Pat
I am deeply saddened by your loss. I am privileged for having known him.
I will always remember the many years with the Bulgarian group and the dance (and life) lessons Nick taught me. I have so many memories to hold onto. One specific memory, when at a single digit age I asked..."how and when do we water the peppers?" I believe I threw him a little off guard with my question.
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. I will miss Nick immensely.
Love,

Dear Jordanoff family,
I was so saddened to hear the news of Nick's passing. It's been many years since you've heard from me, but my years in CFC have left a lasting impression on my life. Your family is so full of love and vibrance and energy. You bring passion to music and your family's love shines through each of you. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you, and I know that Nick's spirit will live on in all of you until the end of your days. Much love,

Our sincere sympathy to all the family. My family is Macedonian, so we had a lot in common with the Jordanoffs of old. My husband and I taught at West Mifflin North High School with Nick back in the early 1960s. I can remember one frosty morning when Nick came into the school in pain - he rushed down to the school cafeteria and had the cafeteria ladies chop up an onion for him, which he promptly put into a dish towel and tied around his thumb. He taught school that whole day, stinking of the onion tied around his thumb. When he shut his car door that morning, he had closed it on his thumb. His mother always used a chopped onion on a bruise, and Nick knew that would cool the throbbing thumb and keep the swelling down. Yep, it works, 'cause my Macedonian mother used to do the same thing! Nick was a free spirit - loyal, funny, a dreamer, yet such a realist. He touched a lot of lives. Maybe God needed his talent and experience for some big ethnic production in heaven and targeted Nick for the job. Bog da go proste!

Dear Chris, Nicky, Iliya and Greg,
I've known Nick for 47 years. Not as long as some and longer than most. He has always been a true and loyal friend. The most important thing he did in his life was to help and guide youth to become all that they could be and to make the right choices in life. I'll miss his good natured kidding and humor. I'll miss him!

Nick and I "locked horns" over costumes for our Lithuanian dancers way back when. After much convincing, Nick agreed that the shortening of the skirts complimented the idea of our presentation: entering Ellis Island. These details that Nick adhered to with each ethnic group performing at the Pittsburgh Folk Festivals, was his unique way of preserving and introducing others to ALL nationalities. As the dance director for our Lithuanian dancers at that time, I appreciated his input and I know his talent will never be replaced. The heavens are blessed to have Nick up there directing the dancing in the clouds. My prayers to his family and those who will miss this gifted man.

Mrs. Jordanoff: What a shock to learn of Nick's death. Having our offices abut in the Music building, I looked forward to his cheerful "good morning" and a Polish joke or two. So many people share your grief. May he rest in peace.

Dear Chris,
Heartfelt sympathies to you and your family. Nick was a cherished colleague--great to work with. His lively sense of humor, and his no-nonsense way of dealing with problematic issues were refreshing. We know that he is singing and dancing in heaven with all the other saints and angels.

Chris: My deepest sympathy in the loss of your beloved Jordie. He would love this story (in brief). If he hadn't packed countless rolls of toilet paper in his drum cases for our Europe trip in '62, the orchestra would have been in deep you-know-what! So long ole pal.

Jordie was my total inspiration in ethnicity. Nick was my first instructor in folk dance with the Bulgarian Nationality Group for the Pittsburgh Folk Festival. He was the foremost expert in not only Balkan dance but also in ethnic stage productions. He always pushed me to do better in my performance not only on stage, but in life. When Jordie saw you, he would always brighten your day with one of his jokes and a personal embrace. As an alumni of the Duquesne University Tamburitzans, I am forever grateful for his artistic direction. As a personal friend and my mentor, I will forever be grateful and blessed to have known this man. The Bulgar Hall will be a little bit quieter without his physical presence, but his spiritual presence will always live on in its very foundation. Nick was the "Godfather of Ethnic Soul" and will be greatly missed. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Vechnaya Pamyat.

I have had the pleasure of working with Mr. Jordanoff for several years as his therapist in pulmonary rehab at Shadyside Hospital. Mr. Jordanoff was always upbeat, despite some days having trouble breathing. Nick always had a towel around his neck as he did his routine. Trying to keep his body healthy, despite his lung disease. I will miss him and the towel around his neck.

Dear Christine and Family,
I am so saddened by your loss. I have always loved Nick for the fact that he so loved life! He showed the rest of us that life is to be embraced and enjoyed, no matter the circumstance...a lesson we all too often forget. I will always remember his jokes, his kind words and the way he could brighten my day, simply by his presence (i.e., just walking by my office door).
Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers, as is Nick.
