Nicolas Bonilla Garcia Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 25, 2025.
Nicolas "Pechanga" Bonilla Garcia 90, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025, in Northampton, Pennsylvania, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, to Pedro and Matilde Bonilla Garcia.

Nicolas proudly served in the Puerto Rican military before moving to Pennsylvania, where he initially lived with his brother Basillio and his family while establishing his new life. He was the youngest of five brothers-Basillio, Virgilio, Pedro, and Pablo-and was the last surviving among them.

He married Marie Garcia, with whom he had three children. Later in life, he remarried Nolberta Cruz. Nicolas built a long and dedicated career as a supervisor with UGI, where he worked for 30 years until his retirement. In retirement, he embraced his love for entertaining, often hosting pool parties at his home for family and friends.

Nicolas is survived by his three children: Elizabeth Garcia, Yolanda Stewart, and Eduardo Garcia. He was a proud grandfather to nine granddaughters-Shannon Rodriguez, Donna Peletz, Amanda Peletz, Christina Peletz, Casandra Clark, Nicole Moore, Brittany Sanders, Ashley Garcia, and Alyssa Garcia-whom he affectionately called his "baseball team." His legacy continues through his 14 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews from his extended family.

Nicolas will be remembered for the joy he brought to those around him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A celebration of life is planned for Spring/Summer of 2025.

Thank you Dad! Thank you for the life you provided for us growing up. Thank you, for the unwavering love, support and dedication to family over the years. Thank you, for a lifetime of invaluable instruction, correction and advice. Thank you, for showing us that hard work is not only necessary but expected, and that there's nothing wrong with having a good time, and enjoying the fruits of your labor. Thank you for your sacrifices , your efforts , and all the lessons learned. Thank you, for the laughter and the tear, the good times and for keeping it together in tough times. Thank you for being you, your true self, and everything that comes with it. And finally, thank you, for living life on your own terms -always, and setting an example all of us can take something away from. Well done Dad, well done.
