Norma McCarty Obituary
Norma passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 8, 2017 in Jacksonville, FL.
Norma was born on December 27, 1923 in Jackson, TN to the late Bruce and Opal Shearin. She and her family grew up in Calvary Baptist Church, and later was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson. Everyone who knew Norma (affectionally known as "Moo") knew that she loved her Tennessee Vols and St. Louis Cardinals and loved to attend every sport, cheerleader, dance, or activity any of her kids, grandkids and great granddaughter were participating in. She worked at American Olean Tile in Jackson for 30 years until her retirement, before relocating to Jacksonville, Florida where her oldest daughter resides.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Jo Wells and her precious granddaughter, Morgan McCarty.
She is survived by daughter Deborah Goddard (Gary) in Jacksonville, Fl. , Denise McCarty in Orlando, Fl, and Mike McCarty (Pam) in Jackson, Tn; Granddaughter, Stephanie Johnson Eason (Mike) in Jacksonville, Fl. and Grandson, Kirk McCarty (Erica) in Charleston, SC and Great-granddaughters, Lyla Olivia Johnson and Eleanor Morgan McCarty.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 1-3 p.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons, two hours prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Morgan Leah McCarty Scholarship Fund, 95 Alta Vista Drive, Jackson, TN 38305.
