Karen Walters Karen Louise Walters passed away at the age of 52 on July 17th, 2010 at St. Paul's Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her parents Joe and Gertie Walters, and her brother Dwayne Walters. She leaves behind her half brother, Rodger Walters; sister-in-law, Maxine Walters; niece, Kim Walters and nephews, Ryan and Doug Walters. She is also survived by her Uncle George Derbyshire, Aunt Carey Thordarson; cousins, Murray Fernwalt, Carol Lowey, George Derbyshire, Don Derbyshire, Garth Derbyshire, Tom Derbyshire, Garnet Derbyshire, Dayla Shirley, Norma Derbyshire-Blyth, Laurel Hansen, Bob Bjornerud, Sharon Moore, and Bob Miller. She also leaves behind her cat, Jodi. Karen was born in Kelvington, Sask. on July 3rd, 1958. After graduation, she moved to Regina to pursue her diploma in Psychiatric Nursing. She was first employed at the Saskatchewan Hospital in North Battleford for a year followed by a 30 year career at the Saskatoon Regional Psychiatric Centre. Karen was a devoted nurse who took pride in her work. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Paul's Hospital for their excellent care, and Karen's friends, relatives and colleagues who phoned, visited and provided her with gifts and flowers. A Memorial Service will take place at McClure United Church (4025 Taylor St. E) on Wednesday July 21st at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Hospital Foundation (1702-20th St. W, Saskatoon, SK S7M 0Z9). Arrangements in care of David Polzen MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (978-5200).
