OLGA BAZOWSKI (NEE PAWLUK)
February 9, 1930 - June 12, 2013
On Wednesday, June 12, 2013 our loving and much loved mother passed into the arms of the Lord. She leaves behind to mourn, her daughter Beverley Ann, her son Daryl, brother Bill Pawluk, sister Toni (Mike) Bodnar, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Jack in 1986, her parents Anna and George Pawluk, as well as her brothers and sisters. Mother was born and raised in the rural Wakaw district, the youngest of a large and religious farm family. When growing up she excelled performing at concerts; singing, reciting and playing the violin. Olga married Jack Bazowski in June of 1949 and together they farmed in the Fish Creek district, moving to Saskatoon in 1959. While raising her family as a full time homemaker, she also volunteered with many organizations, including: church; UOWAC Hanka Romanchych Branch; Vesna Festival; Folk Fest; civic, provincial and federal elections. In 1964, she served as vice president on the first executive of the Yevshan Ukrainian Folk Ballet Ensemble. She was an active gardener and lived independently in her own home while maintaining the family farm until her untimely passing. Prayers for Olga will be held on Sunday, June 16, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 17, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Both services will be held at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of All Saints, 2616 Louise Street, Saskatoon, with Very Rev. Fr. Roman Kocur officiating. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Orthodox Cemetery.
