Oliver Lloyd McNeil passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018 at the Capital Caring Adler Center.
He was born to Matt and Shannon McNeil on Dec. 30, 2006 in Washington D.C.
He was a student at Vienna Elementary School.
He had a special interest in Disney stories, Winnie the Pooh and his friends, and many other cartoon characters. He loved going to Disney Theme Parks, going to the beach and playing in the water, swinging at the playgrounds, eating ice cream and going to Jill's house.
He was a devoted fan of the Washington Nationals Baseball Team where he ran the bases after special games. He rarely left the stadium without a ball retrieved by the ushers and given to him.
He attended the Restoration Anglican Church in Arlington, Virginia where the members stepped in and provided tender care to the family as Oliver's health failed due to an inherited rare genetic disease called Sanfilippo Syndrome, MPS IIIA. They provided visits, meals and even decorated their house with Christmas decorations.
A book, inspired by Oliver, was written by his father, and was read by the students in Piqua elementary grades for their Visiting Author Series in April 2013.
A sister, Waverly, preceded him in death.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by grandparents Bill and Karen McNeil, Piqua, Linda and Al Iezzi, Robert Moyer, and great-grandmother Fern Titus, all of Pa. He is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A service of thanksgiving for his life will be held at McLean Bible Church (MBC), on the ground level of the Smith Center, on Saturday, December 15 at 11:00am.
Contributions may be made in honor of Oliver to Jill's House, 9011 Leesburg Pike, Vienna VA. 22182.
