RETZER, Dr. Oskar February 24, 1929 - June 8, 2011 Dr. Oskar Retzer died on June 8, 2011, age 82. He was born on February 24, 1929. He attended the University of Alberta, graduating as Doctor of Medicine in 1956. Oskar took six more years of postgraduate training and became a surgeon specialist. He worked at all Calgary Hospitals and at the Cancer Clinic. He was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Calgary until his retirement in 1996. Oskar was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, two brothers, and his special aunt Dorothy. He is and will always be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Elaine (nee Laidler), and their children: Dr. Elisabeth (Dr. Rob Cole), Ann (Tom), Dr. Mark (Susan), and Greg (JoAnn), and grandchildren; Daniel, Lauran, Mary, Nathan, Claire, Ava, Elise and Mirabel. He is also survived by his sister Hilde (Herman Gnenz), and his brothers Ed, Walter (Elizabeth) and Helmut (Marlene). A Private Family Service of Remembrance was held.
