Patricia Doherty Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 23, 2022.
Patricia V. (Brindisi) Doherty, 70, of Oxford, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022 at the Life Care Center of Auburn after a long battle with Alzheimer's dementia.
She leaves her husband, John Michael Doherty; her children, Brendan and Maria Doherty, all of Oxford; her siblings, Domenic A. Brindisi Jr. and his wife Roseann, Deborah A. Brindisi, Robert P. Brindisi and his wife Lynda, Nancy C. Brown and her husband Bill, Susan M. Brindisi, James S. Brindisi, and Lynn A. Smith and her husband Cody; sisters-in-law, Mary Kate Doherty and her companion Mark Bailey and Cathy Doherty and her husband Terry; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Patty was born in Worcester to Domenic A. and Shirley M. (Gauthier) Brindisi, the first of their eight children. She graduated from Burncoat High School and Worcester State College where she also earned her master's degree in education.
Patty worked for the Worcester Public Schools, primarily teaching second grade at Grafton Street School and Roosevelt School, from which she retired in 2013. Her family wishes to extend a special thank you to all of her friends and teaching associates at Roosevelt School for helping her transition into retirement during the early progression of her illness.
She was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association, a one-time member of the LAOH, Div. 36, and taught catechism at St. Anne's Church in Oxford.
Patty was a wonderful mother, a loving wife, and a devoted teacher. She cherished summer camping trips with her family on Cape Cod and for over twenty years on Hermit Island in Maine. She was dedicated to physical fitness, working out regularly at the gym. She loved to listen to music, especially the songs of Paul McCartney whose concerts she attended. The impact on those she leaves behind can only begin to be expressed here. She will be greatly missed.
Calling hours will be Thursday, March 24, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral will be Friday, March 25 from the funeral home with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. John's Church, 40 Temple St., Worcester. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the St. John's Food for the Poor program, 44 Temple St., Worcester, MA 01604.

To The Doherty Family,
Thinking of all of you during this time. For many years you endured
much heartache and loss in witnessing day by day how Alzheimers Dementia takes so much away from one´s family and friends.
Patty was a beautiful person inside and out. Her surprise 60th birthday party is a happy memory we have of celebrating Patty and her life.
May God´s love and the love of family and friends continue to surround you.
Many thoughts and prayers for comfort and peace,
Love Annmarie, Bernie & Boys
