I was at school (that's my job!) pretending to be able to focus. As soon as the students were dismissed at the end of the day, I laid my head on a desk and just bawled! Then, I sat up and said, "I am going to write a poem for Pat!" And, I did! Here it is:
a poem for my sister (an original poem by W. Carnell, 03/01/2023)
Sister of mine,
You are my sister!
We grew up together. We laughed. We cried.
We carried on in this world - connecting when we could and leaning on each other.
There is an empty space now, in my life. You left it there when you went to Heaven.
I am happy for you, I truly am!
And now, you know of all Heaven´s mysteries.
I hope you will come and visit me!
When my sorrows make me cry,
I will think of you! I will wish for a hug from you to comfort me.
When others laugh and I hear you...
and I see the brightest smile, ever!
I will think of you...
and know that you have sent me a gift
To remind me to laugh...
And to love, in the way that you did... while you were here with me.
Life on earth is just too damn (dang) short!
And I know that now, without you here.
I will carry you in my heart...
And every day, I will remember you.
I miss you, Pat! ...dear sister of mine.

I was friends with Pat throughout high school. I thought it was so cool she had a pet monkey!! She was so much fun. She and I had gotten into trouble in Chicago when we were on a youth group church trip. We were always having so much fun. I´m so sorry for your loss.
