Patricia Schuette Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 11, 2023.
Patricia Raye Schuette, 80, of Libertyville, IL, passed away on July 4, 2023. Born on August 10, 1942, in Cleveland, OH, Patricia was a beloved daughter of the late Alice and Walker Nichols.

Patricia was raised in Chicago and other than a few years living in Detroit and a decade spent in Minneapolis, she made Lake County, IL her home.

Patricia had a fulfilling career that spanned several decades. She began as a data processor in the 1960s and later became a proficient computer programmer, fluent in FORTRAN and COBOL.

Outside of her professional life, Patricia had a vibrant personality and a wide range of interests. She cherished family gatherings, where laughter filled the room as loved ones gathered around a large table, playing cards and games. Patricia had a keen intellect and enjoyed challenging herself with crossword puzzles. She also had a deep affection for animals and lovingly cared for several cats and a few dogs throughout her life.

Patricia was a dedicated fan of her Chicago Cubbies, Bears & Bulls and Minnesota Vikings & Twins. She was known for her remarkable ability to win annual football confidence pools, even well into her 70s. Patricia found joy in music and was a member of the CLC Choir for a time. She was an avid reader and took pleasure in writing book reviews in her later years.

Patricia leaves behind a rich legacy of love and cherished memories. She will be deeply missed by her best friend of 70 years, Laverne "Lovey" Costello of Delray Beach, FL. Patricia is survived by her brothers, Jerome Nichols of Brentwood, CA, and Dale Nichols. She leaves behind her six daughters: Deborah Farmer (Kenneth) of Gurnee, IL, Darlene Beltz (Daniel) of St. Charles, MO, Dorriann Emmerich of Lake Villa, IL, Deborah Schiesl-Thomas (Troy) of Naperville, IL, Danielle Wuorenma of Gurnee, IL, and Denise Schuette (Matt) of Evansville, MN, her niece Carrie Nichols (Letty) of Santa Fe, NM and nephew Jonathan Nichols (Tracy) of Brentwood, CA. Patricia was a proud grandmother to 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In accordance with Patricia's wishes, her body has been thoughtfully donated for medical research through Medcure. A private memorial service will be held at a later date to honor her life and legacy.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Save a Pet in Grayslake, IL, or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Patricia Raye Schuette will be remembered as a loving and vibrant individual who touched the lives of many. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
