Patrick Alexander Machan passed away in Prague, Czech Republic on December 13, 2016. Patrick was born on November 1, 1966 in Zlin, Czech Republic (formerly Gottwaldov, Czechoslovakia) to Alois Machan and Nadezda Papirnikova Machanova. He spent his early childhood in Zlin, and moved to Rye, New York in 1984.
Patrick graduated from Rye High School, and went on to attend Hamilton College (Clinton, NY), graduating in 1990 with a major in Economics and a minor in Government. Patrick's true love was playing ice hockey. He played for both Rye High School and Hamilton College, and he continued playing in his adult life. In addition to ice hockey, he loved playing golf, and skiing.
Following his graduation from Hamilton, Patrick joined Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in Queens, NY, as sales representative. He went on to open Pfizer's sales offices in Bratislava, Slovakia, and served as Pfizer's country manager for the Czech Republic. In 2002, Patrick returned with his family to Greenwich, CT. After he left Pfizer in 2006, Patrick held various pharmaceutical positions in New York, Dubai, and Kiev.
He is survived by his former wife, Joan Suter of Riverside, and their children, PJ, Christopher, and Alexander, as well as his daughter Annika of Prague, CZ. He is also survived by his brother, Mojmir Machan, and sister in-law, Kate Machan, of Groton, MA, and their children, Edward and Elizabeth.
A memorial mass will be held Dec. 29th at 11:30am at the chapel at St. Catherine of Sienna in Riverside, CT.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patrick's memory to Hamilton College (Clinton, NY).
