Paul E. Abate

Abate, Paul E. GLENVILLE Paul E. Abate (Brother Joshua Paul Abate, FSD), 67 of Glenville and formerly of Catskill, entered eternal life on December 4, 2021. He was born in Brooklyn on March 23, 1954, to the late Paul E. and Angeline (Lauro) Abate. Paul and his family moved to Catskill in 1963, where he attended St. Patrick's Grammar School and St. Patrick's High School. Paul went on to earn a bachelor's degree from LeMoyne College and returned home to Catskill and taught at St. Patrick's High School. Paul was an early activist in the local environmental movement. He loved his dogs. Brother Joshua was of The Congregation of the Third Order of Franciscans of San Domiano. He is mourned by his Brothers, the communicants and Pastor Father Alla Issa at St. Ann Maronite Catholic Church in Watervliet, where he served as organist. Paul also served as organist at St. Anthony's Church in Schenectady and the Church of St. Mary at Clinton Heights in Rensselaer. Paul also leaves behind the staff and residents at Holiday at the Atrium Senior Living where he was a beloved friend who provided much comfort and assistance. His friends and family are most appreciative to the doctors and nurses for his exceptional care at Ellis Hospital, especially on C-6 and E-1 ICU. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects to Brother Joshua Paul Abate on Thursday, December 9, at St. John the Evangelist Church, 806 Union St., Schenectady. Calling hours will be held from 9:30 until 11 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment will take place privately in Catskill. Arrangements are by Simple Choices, Inc.
