So sorry to hear of Paul's passing. I knew Paul from living in Grace Hall at Notre Dame. I remember Paul as a kind, gentle soul who always had a smile on his face.

People often talk about making a difference in others' lives. Paul Lester lived that philosophy. He was truly the kindest doctor I have ever had the privilege of working beside. I only worked with him for a short time, but in that short time he had such an impact on me and we remained friends over the years. He lived the life we all should aspire to live. He made the difference we all should attempt to make. I already miss so much our bantering back-and-forth about baseball. He was loved and admired by so many. We were so blessed to have known him. My love and prayers are with his family and his children. Godspeed my friend.

My heart goes out to Dr Lester's family, friends- all of us who loved him. He was truly a special person who touched so many in his time here on earth. I will never forget his smile, the way he laughed at my corny jokes (I tried to always have one ready for him), our breakfast conversations, his love for his family, and the kind caring way he treated everyone. Dr Lester made this world a better place for so many. We are blessed to have known him.

I was so sad and shocked to hear of Dr Lester's passing. What a class act! I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to work at St Clare with him. As a hospital operator he always made me feel his equal. He always would tell me I was his favorite when I was the operator on duty even though I'm sure he said it to others, I felt pretty darn special! I would also tell him he was my favorite and I sure meant it. Thank you for your kindness Dr Lester I will miss you..

Sad to hear. Went to high school with Paul but did not know him well. My mom was admitted to St. Claire late in her life and Paul was one of her attending physicians. He represented Bellarmine well. My loss for not knowing him better. Peace to his family and friends.

Dear Lester Family,
Paul was my first cousin, and he was born in Anchorage just a few weeks before I graduated from Bellarmine. By the time his family returned from Alaska, I was off to college and never returned to live in Tacoma again. So, sadly, I never had the opportunity to meet him or get to know him until our Uncle Pat's funeral in 2014. That was definitely my loss, since I always heard nothing but high praise for him from everyone in our family. He supervised our sister Lynette's excellent care at St. Clare in 2004, and he was wonderfully supportive of both of my parents in their elder years. Please know that you are on my mind and in my heart as you grieve his loss and adjust to life without him. My hope is that fond memories of his life will sustain you during this time. Love, Paddy Inman

I worked with Paul at St. Clare for the last 6 years and we became great friends. I remember when I first started I was a bit intimidated to admit my first patient to him. I presented the case and he was so incredibly gracious, validating my decision to admit, saying he would have done the exact same thing. As per his character, he recognized this new grad's fear and put them immediately to ease. We bonded over Cubs baseball, the love of shopping (watches), Giordano's and Jessica. I learned from him both professionally and personally on a weekly basis. He was truly a wonderful human being and his loss is literally felt across the world. You will be missed...every day.

I first met Paul when he knocked at our door and introduced himself by saying; Hello my name is Paul Lester, I live 2 doors down and Id like to be friends with all of you guys

We were the only Black family on the block and even though kids didnt see color as an issue it was great to have such wonderful, honest, great character and exceptional integrity filled friends and neighbors in Paul Lester and his family as well as most of our block.

If someone asked me to recall a bad time or incident with Paul, I couldnt do it because there never was a time. However, my Mother used to wake us a 6: am on Saturdays because Paul would already be in our backyard bouncing the ball and shooting hoops and when the noise woke Mom; Mom woke us. Whatabeautifulthing!!

Sad to hear this news, Dr. Lester was so welcoming to me when I first started working at St. Clare hospital. I was a young military wife & he would always ask me how I was coping when my husband was deployed multiple times while we were stationed there. He would tell me about his time in the military & how he could relate. He was definitely a gentle giant & he will be missed RIH Dr Lester

I did not know Paul, but I do know his son Ryan. You can tell a lot about a man, based on the character of his offspring. Knowing a lot about Ryan, I can tell that Paul was a tremendous man - one with upstanding character, a strong drive, and great integrity. He will surely be missed. Rest in peace, Paul.

I will always remember Paul as my Bellarmine Bleacher Buddy, watching Ryan and Casey during Freshman football and Jessica and Leah during Volleyball. Happy he was my shirt-tail cousin, always smiling and helping people. I was lucky to have that time with him.

July 2016 - Dan ended up at St Clare Emergency room with a serious blood clot in his leg following a hip replacement. As he was being taken into a room a doctor passed us in the hallway. Dan and I both turned to each other and said 'That's Paul Lester". Dan and I were lucky enough to know the Lester family we all lived in the same neighborhood growing up. Dan's hospital stay was less scary for me because Paul made us feel that everything was going to be ok. Thank you Paul.

Dr Lester was a class act 24 / 7 . He always went out of his way to say nice things about my two sons.
