Pauline F. Mifsud, age 71, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 3, 2017 in Los Gatos, CA with her family and her best friend Jeannie Palma at her side.Born in Bath, England, traveled to the United States with her mother Nancy in 1946. Settled in San Francisco and lived with her grandparents Pietro and Francis Poggi. Nancy married Grant Helsel and gave birth to her two younger brothers, Gregory and Thomas. She grew up in the projects of San Francisco and graduated from Balboa High School in 1963. She married in 1964 and by 1972, had four children.
Moved to San Jose, CA in 1966, where she raised her four children and babysat many of the neighborhood children from her home. Spent most of her career as a medical assistant until her retirement in 2013. She loved to cook and she loved the outdoors. She cherished the family vacations in Yosemite and Big Sur. Her biggest joy was spending time with her 10 grandchildren. She was proud to be a Los Gatos Lion, where she led the Leos.
She is survived by her four children Danette (Edwin) Winslow, Ron (Julie) Mifsud, Paul (Micheyl) Mifsud, Nicole Mifsud, son-in-law Joe Giannone, and adopted family members Chris and Tony Aiello. Her grandchildren Jason, Christian and Molly Winslow; Lindsey Mifsud; Nolan, Jake, and Kayla Mifsud; and Gabriella, Salvatore, and Vincenzo Giannone; and her adopted grandchildren Danielle and Nick Aiello.She is predeceased in death by her parents Leroy Poggi, Nancy Helsel, step father Grant Helsel, brothers Tommy and Gregory Helsel.
A Celebration of Life has been planned for her on her birthday at American Legion Post 99, 1344 Dell Ave, Campbell, CA 95008 Phone: (408) 379-6420 on Sunday, March 12, 2017 @ 1:00PM-4:00PM.
In honor of her dedication and years of leadership, a Scholarship program for the Los Gatos Leos has been set up in her name. Checks can be made out to Los Gatos Lions Charities. Please note on check "Pauline Mifsud Scholarship" and mail to:

Hi, I’m Pauline’s cousin Steven Poggi. Sorry for the late response I just read about Pauline. She used to babysit me and my siblings when we were young. I remember her giving me a note to buy cigarettes at a corner store.

I went to school with Pauline from Luther Burbank Junior High through Balboa High School. Pauline was a fun person to be around and very popular. I was so sorry to learn that she had passed away. We will miss her at our class reunions and will pray for her. May she be in Heaven with her angel wings looking down upon her family and us! It's always hard saying good-bye to old friends and school mates, but it sounds like she had a wonderful life. Sending love and prayers.

You are beautiful inside and out, and I MISS you everyday. Your smile, your laugh, your advice and most importantly your love!! I find my self picking up the phone to text you, to talk to you , to just hear your voicemail. I have a voicemail from you from my birthday, that I listen to often.
