MOORESVILLE -- Peggy Ann stepped into Heaven after a courageous battle with cancer, on June 2, 2006. Through it all, she placed faith and trust in Christ Jesus. She was a member of Chantilly Baptist Church of Charlotte, a former member of the Order of Eastern Star, Derita, NC, grew up in Wadesboro, NC, attended Wingate College and in 1974 graduated from Mendenhall's School for Auctioneering becoming the first lady auctioneer in the State of North Carolina
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Janie Northcutt; brothers, Everette and Jimmy Northcutt; and her first husband, Gene M. Gathings.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of fifteen years, Harry H. Gilbert; two beloved daughters, Jackie Gathings and Monica G. (Paul) Caffrey, of Charlotte; two stepchildren, Greg Gilbert of Florida, and Tonya Middleton of Texas; grandchildren, the joy of her life, Emily and Kavan Williamson, Rachel and John Caffrey, Brennen and Ella Gilbert, Peyton and Jonas Middleton called her 'Big Grandma'; nieces and nephews, Kay, Ralph, Ann, Faye, Pam, Chris.
A heartfelt 'thank you' goes out to Hospice of Iredell County and the Hospice House of Cabarrus County for the loving care given to our loved one.
Services will be held Monday, June 5, 2006 at Lowe Funeral Home on Margaret Wallace Road at Idlewild, with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM, followed by a 12:00 noon funeral service. Interment to follow at Sharon Memorial Park. Afterwards the family will receive friends at the Caffrey home.
