Helena and family, I am so sorry for your loss. "Mr. Daly" was my grade 9 religion teacher and years later, we crossed paths at workshops etc... when I started teaching with the OCSB. He was always friendly, always had a funny anecdote, and always available to students and staff. I will forever remember his deep, melodic voice. May your memories of this wonderful gentleman give you strength during your difficult days. You are in our prayers.

Condolences and sympathy to the Daly family. Peter Daly was an excellent principal at St. Brigid school, where my child attended. Interacting with him over the years while on Parent Council, I was impressed most by his integrity. He was a calm and kindly authority figure for the children, and they listened to him! I wish his family peace at this difficult time.

Helena, Don and family;
I am so saddened by Peter's passing. As neighbours on Cooper St., Peter, Helena and I had many a good time. As Peter and Helena lived directly above me, one gorgeous summer day, Peter and I did up-side-down-side pictures of each other on the balcony. I hope this upside photo gives you a smile during this difficult time.

I have fond memories of the Cinema Club at Pius, for which Peter supervised. Danny Davidson was Treasurer and we screened such great hits as Puppet on a Chain and the Sword in the Stone.... I also remember Peter for his tales of the Gropup of Seven in Art class and his reaction to the world's current events was "Now doesn't that just make ya sick?" It still holds true today....regarding the latter comment, I take some solace in knowing that he is now in a bettter place. My condolences to Helena, Chuck, Lorna and the rest of the Daly family. He will be missed...

Dear Helena, Christina and Elizabeth,
Merle and I and Nnamdi are completely shocked to hear this sad news. We remember Peter at 471 as the guardian of our block on Viewmount Drive. Such a wonderful neighbour he was, always looking out for the rest of us, usually with the City. Indeed, you all were wonderful, caring neighbours who set a high standard for neighbourliness that has not been surpassed. Now we have more compelling reason to miss him. We hope to be with you on Sunday.

Dear Helena, Christina, Elizabeth and family.
I had the good fortune to work with Peter for several years while he was at St. Matthew. He was such a warm, kind
and caring man, so considerate of others and you could see he truly lived his faith. He had such a wonderful sense of humour - no one could tell a story like Peter, and he had many to share. He was truly a special man who left his mark on anyone fortunate enough to have known him. He will be sorely missed, but not forgotten. My deepest sympathy to you all at this very difficult time.

I first met Peter and Helena as a high school student at Pius when Elizabeth and I participated in a student exchange program to France; I did not get to know her parents well but I so enjoyed getting to know Elizabeth as we toured Paris.
Seven years later I was a B.Ed. student and Peter was the instructor for the Religious Education teachable at Ottawa U. I was very fortunate to learn from him during that year - yes, about being a Religion teacher but more so about being a good person. He spoke so lovingly about his wife and daughters and candidly about the challenges and triumphs of being a teacher and administrator. He became a mentor to me and I know he has been a mentor to countless other teachers and students. Peter is without a doubt the most influential person in my career as a Catholic educator.
I cannot imagine how difficult it has been for Helena, Christina, and Elizabeth to lose such an amazing husband and father so quickly and cruelly. I hope that it is a small comfort to them to know that he touched so many peoples' lives in such a profound way. Peter's wisdom and empathy will continue to guide me in my career. It was an honour to know him.

Peter was a most amazing person. He was vice principal at St. Matthew's in the early 90's. I was fortunate to have been a teacher there at the time. Peter exuded kindness and compassion. He was ever ready with a sympathetic ear and open heart. When a staff member had a problem, Peter was there to help them resolve it. He entertained us at staff meetings with his funny stories of the many shenanigans he got into as a young man. He spoke often of the love he had for his family. Please accept my sincere condolences.

Helena, Christina, Elizabeth and the Daly family.
My sincerest sympathy on the loss of a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, brother-in-law and uncle.
Peter was one of the first people to befriend me when we started 9th grade in 1964 at St. Pius X Preparatory Seminary. Peter was a humble, generous, kind, intelligent, humorous and a gentle man all the years I knew him. It was wonderful to see him again this past August along with Helena and our mutual friend and classmate Msgr. Joe. It had been years since we'd seen each other however, Peter was so comfortable to be around that it felt as though time hadn't passed at all. He was a remarkable man, and I'll never forget him as he now rests in peace in the Father's embrace.
Sincerely,
Johanne Landrigan

Dear Helena & Family
It is with shock and sorrow that I heard about Peter's death yesterday. It gave me time to reflect upon what a faith-filled man and a good soul he was. He knew that I have always considered him my most important mentor, teaching me by his words and example, as I navigated through St. Pius X in the 70s. Those life lessons I have helped me over the decades since. His energy was boundless and his commitment to Catholic education was unequivocal. Many of us carry a small part of Peter with us--he inspired us with his compassion and his strong sense of the good. I will remember him in my prayers and and wish you all God's peace in this very difficult time.
