59, of Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, passed away October 12, 2015. Father of Ciaran and Nia; son of Philip H. Dougherty (deceased) and Dorothy Patt Dougherty; brother of Paul and Margaret. The Wake is Friday, October 16, 3-5pm and 7-9pm at Edwards Dowdle Funeral Home, 64 Ashford Ave., Dobbs Ferry. Funeral Mass is Saturday, October 17, 10am at St. Matthews Roman Catholic Church, 616 Warburton Ave., Hastings-on-Hudson. We are all bereaved. Please omit flowers.

I add my voice to those already here who worked with Peter at MTV Europe in the 1990s. We knew we were all working with someone incredibly different, special and visionary who ultimately contributed enormously to defining and building an entirely new era of youth, music and popular culture on television. Peter Dougherty was a true creative genius. He inspired and also terrified (in the best way). He spoke his mind but it was always only to help those around him learn and grow. Peter's companionship and guidance was a gift to many, many people. I'm grateful to have had Peter for a colleague and friend. When I think of Peter I recall his ready wit, his passion for art, his resolute manner and his unfailing decency. I simply can't express my shock at his sudden passing. Like Martina says - you made some special safe place for a group of very talented and amazing people to just do what they did and beautifully; a truly rare thing. We always wanted to do our best for you because even though we knew we would be in serious trouble if our kerning was out (graphics department) we knew you really believed in us and the work and that we needed to honour that. I feel completely blessed to have been a part it - so very sad and unimaginable to think that you are gone .
