Peter Rabasco Obituary
Wappingers Falls - Peter Joseph Rabasco, Sr., a resident of Dutchess County for more than 40 years and formerly of Westchester County, died at home on Sunday, September 25, 2016. He was 77.
Son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Lupico) Rabasco, he was born in the Bronx on July 27, 1939. In 1956, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for six years. He was honorably discharged from service in 1963.
A skilled mechanic, Peter had a longstanding career with General Motors. He retired in 1989.
He loved riding his motorcycle and belonged to the Lost Wheels Motorcycle Club. He was also a ham radio operator under the handle of L.D.O. Services. As a result of his time in the Navy, he cherished spending time on the water and was an avid boater.
On February 13, 1994, he married Kathleen M. McClurg in New Windsor. Kathleen survives at home in Wappingers Falls.
Peter is also survived by his children, Louise Rabasco of Newburgh, Peter J. Rabasco, Jr. (Kristen) of New Paltz, Paul Rabasco of New Paltz, Joseph Rabasco of Poughkeepsie, Kellyann Underwood (Edwin) of Wappingers Falls, and Heather Brewer (Stephen) of Poughkeepsie; his grandchildren, Victoria, Olivia, Stella, Joseph, Haidyn, Tyler, Kaileb, Vincent, Heru, and Logan; his former wife, Lucyann Rabasco of New Paltz; and many other loving relatives & friends.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 27 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 28 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley, where the U.S. Navy will conduct Military Honors.

My fondest memory of Pete goes back to the early 1990's. I am also an avid motorcyclist and at that time I worked with Kathy. Pete didn't really know me but he had Kathy ask me to go on a Poker Run with them. When I met up with them, Pete had a set of braided leather grip covers for my bike. In keeping with tradition, they were handed down to me with the expectation I would one day hand them down to another rider. The coolest thing about that was that I rode a sport bike while Pete and his buddies rode cruisers, but it didn't matter. I was welcomed. I will never forget that friendly gesture or that beautiful day we spent riding.

I was not ready for this news. Peter and I were childhood playmates and First Cousins. Our Mothers Josephine Lupico McMahon, (his mom) and Eleanor Lupico Paust were sisters. We lost touch for many years UNTIL I discovered "the Internet". I am happy to have found him and shared information of our adult lives. He was SO PROUD of his wife, and I know he loved her very much. May God rest his soul and I like to think o f him revisiting with those he loved gone before him. I really wish I had known he was sick. I would have loved to "chat" one more time.
My prayers are for Kathy and his children to move through this time of such sorrow. Blessings to your all.

SO SORRY TO HEAR THIS---you guys have been part of our lives for so many many years,,we are heartbroken for you........we can say all the polite things,like Pete is better off, and yes it may be true. I can quote you scriptures and verses.....i am sure KELLY knows them all by heart as do I.....but i pray for your pain to be eased,for your loss to be somehow made meaningful,and for your memories to carry you through with joy as you walk through this most difficult time and the time to come......my heart goes out to you and to the kids.
