Philip Falcone Obituary
Philip M. Falcone M.D., of Easton, beloved husband of Michelle DeRosa Falcone, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 13, 2019. He was born on November 23, 1960 to Philip and Rita (D'Andrea) Falcone in the Bronx, New York. Dr. Falcone received his undergraduate degree from Fordham University and his medical degree from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center. He graduated with honors and was named to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honors society. He then completed his ophthalmology residency training at the St. Luke's Roosevelt Medical Center of Columbia University, and retina fellowship training at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary of Harvard Medical School. He has been in practice in Connecticut for 25 years and was an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Yale University School of Medicine and a volunteer at the Veterans Hospital in West Haven. He loved every aspect of his life - his work and many hobbies, but above all, time spent with his family. In addition to his cherished wife of 30 years, Michelle, and his parents, survivors include four adored children, Philip, Robert, Matthew and Marissa Falcone; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Theresa Tolve; sister, Marie Nobile, and her husband, Joseph; sister-in-law, Danielle Bucolo, and her husband, Steven; brother-in-law, Michael DeRosa, and his wife, Andrea. In addition, his adored nieces, Andrea Fortuno (husband, Michael Fortuno) and Lauren Bucolo, and nephews, Joseph Nobile (fiancé, Isla McClelland), Ross Bucolo, John Bucolo, and Andrew DeRosa, as well as his great-niece, Giuliana Fortuno, and great nephew, Michael Fortuno, aunts, uncles, cousins, colleagues and many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. directly at Notre Dame of Easton Church, 640 Morehouse Road, Easton. Interment will be held privately. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Dr Falcone, was a lovely man he was the first one to tell me I had a retinal detachment in May 2016.. he was very gentle and kind towards me as I didn't understand what had happened to me. We went to surgery twice together and was always joking and talking about the uk (Where I am from) to make me feel comfortable. I was in shock to learn of his passing today. I was shocked and very saddened to find out about the passing of Dr.Falcone today. I was visiting my eye doctor today and she told me about Dr. Falcone. I burst into tears! Dr. Falcone saved my eyesight in my left eye

Dear Falcone family and office team,
I was so shocked to hear that Dr. Falcone is gone. His skill as a doctor was equally matched by his kindness and compassion. Even when I was in surgery I could hear how respectfully he treated everyone around him.
I used to joke in my visits that I was part of "Club Falcone" and when I was cured still felt I just graduated to "Fan Club Falcone".

I knew Phil, throughout my teenage years, hanging out at Holy Rosary park. Most of us referred to him as Phil Muscles , because of his phenomenal physique. He was always a total gentleman, and I know he made all the teenaged girls' hearts skip a beat, as he did mine. His personality, smarts and laughter, in addition to his pearly whites were all very contagious.He was truly every girl's dream.
I was in total shock, and disbelief when two mutual friends on Facebook informed me of of his sudden death, while vacationing with his family in Puerto Rico. What an unimaginable tragedy!

I am truly shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of Dr Phil Falcone. Four days after learning of his passing , I still have trouble thinking that this absolutely wonderful, fabulous Doctor and Friend is gone ! He performed 5 eye surgeries on me and I will be forever grateful to him! I never was nervous as I knew I was in the best hands .. from before surgery to the night of when he called to check on my recovery... I truly loved this man and his awesomeness and cried when I heard of his passing! I still feel his hugs, I still hear his voice and I will never forget this Beautiful wonderful man! I'll always remember sitting in his office chair while he and my husband talked about Golf, Football and their rivalry between his beloved Yankees and our Beloved Red Sox along with how proud he was of his children! My mother was his patient for 15 years and I went to all her appointments with her. She liked him, as a fellow New Yorker from the Bronx but also because of his demeanor, intelligence, and compassion for his patients with ARMD.
I also really liked how he was straight forward and down to earth and willing to help me understand the condition and situation of my mother.

To Dr. Falcone's very loved family:
He was a caring and brilliant surgeon who always had a positive attitude. My husband and I came to him as a referral in 2002 from Dr. Seddon, (head of retinal research at the time/Mass Eye and Ear). My husband was diagnosed with macular degeneration at 34 years of age, legally blind at 42 and was in research studies because of the oddity of his age. Dr. Falcone was the most understanding, informed and compassionate physician, and offered so much encouragement for future developments and cures. I can't reflect how thankful my husband and I felt after seeing Dr. Falcone every year. My husband visited the new office and was so devastated when he heard the news, he had to sit and compose himself. Philip Falcone will always be in our hearts.

Dear Mrs. Falcone, Philip, Robert, Matthew, Marissa, and your entire family. There are no words that can express the sincere sympathy and sadness in my heart for all of you. I had the honor and privilege of being one of Dr. Falcone's patients. He was truly a wonderful, compassionate, kind, and caring man and skilled physician. His loss will be felt by his beloved family and his friends, his wonderful office staff, his patients, and all whose lives he touched. May God rest his soul in peace.

We offer our sincere condolences to the Falcone family for the loss of Phil. I recently got to know Phil at CT Golf Club and he was always so friendly, happy and showed a great level of concern and caring for other CTGC members and the CTGC staff. He will be sorely missed! Joe Farruggio and family!
