PHILIP S. VALENTI

Valenti Philip S., born February 23, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan died May 10, 2012 in Saline, MI. Married to Iris May Brooks for 63 years. Phil served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Upon being discharged, he earned a juris doctorate degree and then worked for Ford Motor for nearly 30 years in labor relations and contract negotiations, retiring in 1980. Upon retirement he and Iris moved to Hessel, MI in the UP, where he taught for several years at Lake Superior State University. He and Iris enjoyed many years of traveling, friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Iris and eight children, Joseph (Karen) of Plymouth, MI Michael (Mary) of Newburgh, Indiana, Donald (Cristine) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Paul of Rockford, Illinois, Linda (David) Feldkamp of Ann Arbor, MI, Dennis (Diane) of Ann Arbor, MI, James (Karen) of West Bloomfield, MI and Annette Valenti of Cary, North Carolina. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at the Nie Funeral Home, 3767 W. Liberty Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48103 on Saturday, May 12th and Sunday, May 13th from 4-8 p.m. Vigil and Rosary will be held Sunday, May 13th at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Snows, 261 Island View Rd., Hessel, MI 49745 on May 19, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service.
