I met Phil when I was 28 yrs old, young and cocky. I thought I was a pretty good musician and had an opportunity to play a few licks for Phil after a hockey game. Phil just smiled and was very kind to leave me with my delusion. Only later I learned that he played with Tommy for years. A wonderful man and a great "grandpa" to some kids in troubled times. God Bless.

Some of my fondest memorys of my life were there with the shragge family dinners around the table ,birthdays anniversarys graduations ,holidays.listening to Phil's storys and dancing to his keyboard playing when he got home from work. I know Phil will be missed but his impact will resonate with me and everyone who was blessed to know him

A treasured friend for decades and the most intelligent fellow in our circle of friends. We were fortunate to spend a lot of time with Phil during his treatments and we were impressed with his courage and clarity. We enjoyed many spirited discussions with Phil during this precious time.

Phil was my mentor many years ago when we worked at GMCC... he challenged and chided me in my work and gave me the idea that I might go to graduate school. I owe him much gratitude and remember him with much affection.

RIP Phil. I used to hear you with Tommy and the boys at the Paddock in Edmonton, so many decades ago. Condolences to the family, and thank you for the great music.
