Died on April 10, 2003, after battling complications from a series of strokes she suffered beginning in November of 1992. Posey was a well-known real estate broker in Malibu from 1965-1995. At the height of her career she operated three offices, thirty salespeople, held important positions with the California Association of Realtors, (including director), earned a Master's in English Literature, wrote "Posey Carpentier's Master Plan for Real Estate Selling Success" (Prentice Hall, 1984), raised two children, and enjoyed marriage to the late writer and musician, Charles Carpentier. Throughout her career, Posey was a strong supporter to the advancement of women in business in Los Angeles. She was active in The League of Women's Voters, on the Board of Directors at the First Women's Bank in Santa Monica, and ran for the General Assembly of California in 1979. Posey was born on April 2nd, 1916, in Hillsborough, Texas. She left Texas for Los Angeles to work at Hughes Aircraft where she met and married Charles Carpentier. In 1955, Posey and Chuck built their home in Malibu. Her vibrant and productive life casts a long shadow on those who follow her: her two children, Carla Carpentier (a flutist and music teacher in San Francisco) and Nelson Carpentier (employed in advancing sustainable fuel tech-nology, of Malibu); her grandson, Luke Carpentier; sister, Leta Posey; and eleven nieces and nephews, their children, her many friends, and her late life companion, Chad Harper. A memorial service will be held at The Malibu Nature Preserve (Malibu Riding and Tennis Club), 33905 Pacific Coast Hwy., on Friday, April 18th, 2003, at 11:00 a.m.
