CAMPBELL , Raquan D. A. On December 1, 2010, Raquan D. A. Campbell , 15, of Baltimore, MD was called home to be with God. Born on July 13, 1995, to Lystra Ali-Campbell and Antwon Campbell, Raquan was the apple of his parent's eyes. The youngest of four brothers, Raquan, who was affectionately known as "Ra-Ra" to all who had the pleasure of knowing him, was a very outgoing young man. While growing up, Ra-Ra's parents took notice that their baby boy was not like his other siblings; he was very outspoken and shared his views and thoughts about different subjects from politics to religion to sports and food. At a very young age, Ra-Ra began to show interest in football and have played for various Pop Warner teams, including the South Side Chargers and the Baltimore Panthers. Throughout the years, Ra-Ra developed the skills needed to excel in all the positions that he had played, which included running back and line backer. An avid player of football; Ra-Ra played for the Cherry Hill Eagles until his untimely death. Ra-Ra was well known throughout the Cherry Hill community and became even more popular when he enrolled in Edmonson-Westside High School. With his infectious smile and generosity towards everyone, Ra-Ra, soon became a heartthrob at the high school. During his short time at EWHS, Ra-Ra won numerous awards, which included: Honor Roll, Perfect Attendance, Most Likely to Succeed, Most Likely to Be President, and Prettiest Smile. In 2009, with just a few days left until the final decision was made, Ra-Ra decided that he'd take a shot at running for the Homecoming Court, which he was very happy and excited to announce that he'd won. Raquan leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Lystra Ali-Campbell; his father, Antwon Campbell; brothers, Tyquan, Antwon, Jaquan, Christopher, and Quadre; sisters, Ashley and Taneria; grandmothers, Jaenette and Shirley; great-grandmothers, Carrie and Annie; aunts, Serena, Chantele, Tiatki, Trina, Pam, Towanda, Tarsha, and Diana; uncles, Wayne, Delon, Lil' Freddie, and Raymond; god-mother, Lisa; best friend, Michael; and special friend of the family, Angie.
A viewing for Ra-Ra will be held on Friday, December 10, 2010, 11 AM - 7 PM, at Estep Brother Funeral Home, located at 1300 Eutaw Place, Baltimore, MD 21217. The funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2010, at Cherry Hill United Methodist Church, 3225 Round Road, Baltimore, MD 21225. The wake will be at 10 AM., with the funeral following at 11 AM. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. Interment is private.
