Ray Acosta

Reinaldo Acosta, Jr. (Ray), age 71, of Riverside, CA, passed on Sept. 14, 2013, in St. Joseph Hospital in Riverside, CA. Born in Tampa, FL to Reinaldo Acosta and Georgina Acosta Almeda on January 19, 1941. Ray and family moved to Miami in 1951. Ray graduated from Miami Dade Junior College with an Associate's Degree in Electronics. He joined the U. S. Army Reserves in 1964 and served on active Duty for approximately one year and was then released back into the U.S. Army Reserves for another five years of service. He received an Honorable Discharge from the Army in 1970. Ray was a young ambitious, hard worker and worked his way through college receiving a Degree in Engineering. He was hired by Grumman Engineering in New York City, where he resided for the next 25 years. Ray then moved to Riverside, CA to continue working in the aircraft industry. Ray remained very close to his family in Miami and Tampa. Despite the many miles of separation, Ray considered Tampa his home. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy P. Hays; a niece, Vernice Diaz (Mario); a nephew, Eden Torres (Maria) and their children, Krystal, Bianca & Alfonso Diaz, and Eden Torres; and cousins, Yolanda Fitzpatrick, Delia Millard and Aurelio Leon. A graveside service will be held on Sat., Sept. 28th, at 10 A.M., at Myrtle Hill Cemetery, 4002 N. 50th St, Tampa, FL 33610.
