WICHITA FALLS, TX — Raymond (Ray) Andrew Toth, 81, passed away May 28, 2011 in Wichita Falls. The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Deacon Larry Bills officiating. The Rite of Committal will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Ray, a 56 year resident of Wichita Falls, was born on December 20, 1929 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to Joseph Stephen Toth and Elizabeth (Huyter) Toth. His school age years were spent in Greensboro, North Carolina where he graduated from Greensboro High School, Class of '48. One of his early passions was building model airplanes which eventually led him to join the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic and was stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He changed careers to work as a civil engineer teaching aircraft mechanics, electronics, missiles and computers. He completed his education earning a bachelor's degree from Wayland Baptist College. He retired as a GS-11 after 33 years of government service.
He married the love of his life, Ida Petronilla Koetter, on September 22, 1952 in Windthorst, Texas. He was a loving and devoted father. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church where he served as an usher. He was a ham radio operator and also served as a severe weather spotter. He was an avid photographer and enjoyed league bowling.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Joseph Matthew Toth.
Surviving family include his wife of 58 years, Ida Toth of Wichita Falls, three children, Rhonda Criswell of The Colony, Texas, Janis Toth and Sandra Toth both of Wichita Falls, four grandchildren, Jonathan Criswell, Kosha Jenkins and her husband Hunter, Carrie Toth and Danielle Toth, one great-grandchild Nicholas Jenkins and also one sister Vickie Mathews of Greensboro, North Carolina.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace Building Fund, 2601 Lansing Boulevard, Wichita Falls, TX 76309-3634 and Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, TX, 76310-2547.
