1931 - 2012
Brother of Harold William (deceased), Marie (Bob Elsie) and Margo (Jim Brown). Father of Gerrilyn, Steven (Linda), Paul (Suzanne), Rob (Carolin), and Cynthia (Paul Deen). Grandfather of Paul, Jennifer, Emily, Reggie, Connor, Walker, Penelope, Nathanial and Beatrice. He will be missed by his extended family, friends and his beloved Jane Forbell.
Reg flew Sabre jets with the 427 Squadron (ROAR) in Zweibruken, Germany and ferried 12 Sabres across the Atlantic with the OFU. He was an Air Canada Captain from 1958 to 1991. A few of his many accomplishments were: President of the International Federation of Airline Pilots Assoc. (IFALPA) representing 70 countries; Chief Accident Investigator Canadian Airline Pilots Association (CALPA); Regional VP for IACO's Northern Atlantic Region. His many awards included CALPA Founders Flight Safety Award and the Clarence N. Sayen Award (IFALPA). He was an active member of RAPCAN, SPAADS and the Club de Ski 100 Years. During his 40 years of flying he flew 37 types of airplanes and logged over 17,000 flying hours.
We will all miss him. He was fun and much loved. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The Poppy Fund, Canadian Legion Branch 192, 79 ch. Du Village, Arundel, QC J0T 1A0. Please come to celebrate Reg's life at Le Maître Golf Club, 650 Rue Grande Allée, Mont-Tremblant on Saturday, March 10th 4 o'clock.

For so many years Reg was a close friend of my father Bill. From a young age I remember Reg's beautiful friendly smile and joyful enthusiasm for life. My sincere condolences to the Smith family and to Jane and her family for the loss of such a special person.

I flew with Reggie many times, early in my career with Air Canada, crossed paths in our Association work, and after in RAPCAN. No one could draw more of a crowd when he spoke, than Reg when speaking before a gathering of his peers. His sense of humour will be sorely missed.
Our condolences go out to his family and all who knew him. The aviation community has indeed lost one of it's brightest lights.
