Service will be held Friday, Jan. 08, 2020 at Proctor’s Mortuary 3522 Washington Blvd. Beaumont, TX. Visitation will begin at 8AM until Funeral Service at 10AM. Internment will be held at 1:30PM in Houston National Cemetery Houston, Texas

Samuel Frank McCreary Jr. was born in Evergreen, Alabama on Wednesday, February 4th, 1944 to Samuel Frank McCreary Sr. and Marion S. Walton.  Samuel’s formative years included love, discipline and nurturing from his parents, stepmother Esther E. McCreary, grandparents Lumon L. and Lillie Bell McCreary, Caesar Sanders and Jessie W. Sanders.

On December 20, 1967, at the age of 23, Samuel was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life Barbara Bennett; and to this union three sons were born.  Amongst family and close friends they were affectionately known as “BooMan” and “Mrs. Boo”.

Samuel joined the US Army at the age of 24. During his service, he received 3 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star.  Samuel was also a member of the Bishop Grant Masonic Lodge, #728.

After his service in the US Army as Sergeant 1st Class, he furthered his education by receiving an Associate Degree in Mid-Management from Lamar University, a Theology Degree from the International Baptist Theological Seminary and he completed additional studies at the Beaumont School of Religion.   While working at the Coca-Cola Company as a Delivery Merchandiser, he was well known for his love for people and extroverted personality.  Samuel retired from the Coca-Cola company after 30 years of service.    After Retirement he enjoyed carpentry, working in his garden, and spoiling his prize pets.  He looked forward to his daily task of caring for his Godfather, Rev. John C. Adams.

At the age of 31, he accepted his call into the ministry at the Universal Church of the Living God, under the leadership of Pastor Joseph Barnes.  He and his wife were part of this ministry for more than 25 years before transitioning to New Bethel Baptist Church, Cheek, Texas, under the leadership of Pastor Robert Slaughter.  Pastor Slaughter later organized The Lord’s Way Baptist Church and Samuel and his family transitioned to that ministry.  Upon Pastor Slaughter’s death, Samuel became interim pastor.   After much prayer and supplication, Samuel and Barbara united with the New Light Baptist Church where he served as associate minister until his death.

Samuel will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his Father, Mother, Stepmother and Sister, Esther Ephraim.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara McCreary, his siblings Lumon McCreary Sr.  of Pensacola, FL, Henry L. McCreary (Yvonne) of Montgomery, AL, Margie L. Thomas of Montgomery, AL, and Patricia Howell (Ronald) of Jacksonville, FL, He also leaves to cherish his memory his children, Cynthia McElroy Lewis of Mobile, AL, Tyrone Coleman (Nina) of Detroit MI, Lynetta McCreary Viscardis (Lisa) Beaumont, TX, Samuel Frank McCreary III of Beaumont, TX, Talmedge McCreary of Beaumont, TX, James McCreary of Richmond, VA, Faith Simon (Gustave) of Beaumont, TX, Samantha Carry of Washington DC, 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren --5 sets of twins in three generations and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
