It's sad and very hard news to receive. As we have been close patron's of Don Ricardo's(Cha Cha's) for 29 years. I remember the children being very young and Don Ricardo very polite with a generous smile, his hospitality alone made you want to come back. He had an enormous personality. He new how to make you feel like family. He saw my son grow up played with him since he was one and joked with him into his teens and into adulthood they both share the same name so he called him "tochyaito" a term of endearment. May God console the family as it's a tragedy to loose a wonderful part of their family. May Don Ricardo rest in peace. He will truly be missed it will not be the same including his laughter and Tequila shots. Many birthdays, anniversary's and just because we love Cha Cha's! Thanks for the wonderful memories and all your love. We will truly miss you dearly Don Ricardo. The Garcia Family <3

I just read in today's paper that Mr. Ruiz passed away this summer. We used to go to the Bandera location every Friday night when our son was young and he would always give our son a lollipop.

Deepest sympathies to the Ruiz family.

We spoke to Ricardo Jr. tonight and he have us the news. I'm still in shock and feel so badly for the family. Ricardo was one of the first people I came to know when I moved to SA 7 years ago. Weather it was providing a neck rub, a shot of tequila from the bottle are taking my daughter up front to get a lolly, Ricardo always had a smile and a strong handshake for you. When he spoke of his wife and their hacienda you could see the pride in his eyes. He was a gentleman and I am better for having known him.

We the Vargas family were very sorry to hear of your loss Mr. Ruiz was a very great friend of our entire family. He was the kindness person and the most considered he was there for our daughter Jennifer when she was diagnosed with cancer he would tell us to be sure and stop by every day after her chemo and radiation for her to have dinner because he wanted her to keep her strength up and he would give her the motivation she needed to deal with her cancer. Our daughter was only 15 at that time now she is a young lady and he still kept her motivated when he would see us at dinner at his place of business. We will miss him very much. And to the Ruiz family please except our condolences. Our prayers will be with your family always.

I have been enjoying Ricardo's personality at Cha Cha's for the past 20 years. Myself and the group of guys from Green Tree Tennis Club have been regulars through the years on most Thursday nights. Ricardo alway made our visit enjoyable with his occasional neck rubs, tequila shots poured directly in your mouth or friendly banter. He was always a great host. I will miss him. My prayers are with the Ruiz family.

Mr. Ruiz and I become friends working on a fence at Rancho Las Margaritas this year.
You never really know someone until you spend a couple hot sweaty days pounding dirt into a post hole. Men half his age would seek shade and rest, leaving Ricardo and I to finish tamping post holes. When we finished fence work, I went home; Ricardo went to the Restaurant to work late into the night.

He loved his Hacienda and Rancho. It was a great fun helping Ricardo feed tortillas to his Burros, they will go anywhere for a tortilla.

Now, I will not look forward to fixing fence as I used to, it will just be work.
With Ricardo fixing fence was not work, but spending the day sharing stories with a friend.

Mrs. Ruiz and family, please accept my prayers of compassion for you comfort. I knew Ricardo but for a short time and I am sad he is gone. He is a man I am truly glad I met.
