Richard J. Alphonse

SOMERSET Richard J. Alphonse, 65, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 25, 2022 at his residence in Somerset, NJ. Born in Trenton, he was raised in Hamilton and was a graduate of Steinert High School (Class of 1974). He went on to attend the University of Colorado and Rutgers Law School. Although retired for the last several years, Richard was a practicing attorney for 30 years as well as an adjunct professor at Mercer County Community College where he taught legal writing in the paralegal studies department. Often described as a character, Richard was an avid reader, was a history and Civil War buff and was enthralled with sci-fi movies and loved to travel. Predeceased by his parents John and Angelina Alphonse and his sister, Sharon Dektor, he is survived by his children: Gina Alphonse of Ewing and Sean Alphonse of Bordentown, his former spouse Cathy Alphonse also of Bordentown, his brother and sister-in-law: John and Carol Alphonse of Hamilton and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am Wednesday, August 3 at Mary, Mother of the Church, 45 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 pm and again on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10 :30 am at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ.
