Richard Bean Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 20, 2015.
Richard "Kyle" Bean passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015 in Houston, Texas. Kyle was born on April 29, 1988 in Houston, Texas to Richard and Laura Bean.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Bean and was survived by his mother, Laura Bean.

Kyle graduated from Bellaire High School in 2006. While in high school, Kyle served on the Bellaire debate team, the Academic Challenge Team, and was Editor of the Bellaire Three Penny Press. Immediately after high school, Kyle attended Harvard University and graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in Government. While at Harvard, Kyle was a member of the Harvard Speech and Parliamentary Debate Society, where he served as the President in his senior year, and the American Parliamentary Debate Association.

After graduating from Harvard, Kyle returned to Houston and worked at E-Cardio as a Contracts and Compliance Specialist in their legal department. In 2013 Kyle returned to Bellaire High School as a Debate Coach and Speech and Communications teacher.

Kyle was a unique and vibrant person who touched many lives. His intelligence, passion, and smile lit up any room he entered with love and enthusiasm. He cared deeply for people, for the activity of debate, and for the exchange of ideas. Besides debate, Kyle's interests included politics, hockey and cooking.

Kyle will never be forgotten. He will live in our hearts and minds forever.

Laura, I just learned of your loss and there are no words to express other than I'm sorry. I have such sweet memories of Kyle and the love you have for him. Such a brilliant, handsome, fun loving young man who could turn on the charm with his smile.

Kyle and I were roommates at Harvard. We were both sophomores, and we lived in a one-bedroom dormitory in Old Quincy, that we subsequently converted into two separate sleeping quarters for privacy.

Kyle was always a happy person with this infectious ability to make others around him appreciate their lives. He was always smiling.

I remember late nights staying up with Kyle and watching Survivor together on his bed while we ate greasy Chinese food from the Kong (a gritty Chinese restaurant in Harvard Square.)

You will be missed, brother.

Laura, we are so sorry for your loss. I can't say I understand because I have never had to go through something like this with a child. I never met him but knowing you, I am sure he was a wonderful young man and will be missed by many. He was blessed to have you as his mom. We love you and are hear for you always.

I'll lend you for a little time a child of mine, He said.
For you to love the while he lives and mourn when he is dead,
It may be six or seven years, or twenty-two or three.
But will you, till I call him back, take care of him for me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you, but should his stay be brief,
You'll have his lovely memories, as solace for your grief,
I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn.
I've looked the wide world over in my search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes I have selected you.
Now will you give him all your love, nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call to take him back again?
I fancied that I heard them say: Dear Lord, Thy will be done!
For all the joy Thy child shall bring, the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness: we'll love him while we may,
And for happiness we've known forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for him much sooner than we'd planned.
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand.

Kyle,

This isn't the first letter that I've written to you, and I'm sure that it won't be the last. To say that you had an impact on my life wouldn't do you justice. In so many ways, we grew up together, didn't we? We were so young and reckless, only just starting to gain greater perspective on life but all the highs and lows, I would revisit again in a heartbeat if I had the chance.

I am forever changed for having known you, and in that I find solace. In those whose lives you touched, you will live on, your memory eternal.

I really miss you. I don't think I'll ever stop missing you. I hope, more than anything, that you've found peace.

Love,

Sherri Linder

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Kyle. From the many conversations that you and I have had, I know you are very proud of the young man he has become. I feel that he made a great impact on his students in only the short time that he was teaching. May God comfort you and give you the strength to carry on. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Kyle (or is it Ruggles?),

There is not and will never be anyone like you. You were a light so bright that not even death can put out. I'll miss you forever, but you changed my life, so I think you'll always be a part of it. I count myself lucky to have been part of your life.

Goodbye, my dear friend. Party on.

This is my handsome cousin Kyle, we all knew at a young age that Kyle was special, he was so caring, intelligent and fun. In the past few years I've really missed out on what an amazing person he had grown to become and now refecting on the past I remember all the good times we had. Grandma Winnie was sure proud of you and she loved having all of us at her house at Thanksgiving and Easter, I'll never forget teaching you all the bad school yard nursery rhymes and your mom getting on to us as you laughed yourself red. I can't believe your gone. Ya know they say the good die young and you were one of the great! You will truly be missed by all who have had the pleasure of ever crossing your path. We love you and until we meet again I know you'll be there shining down on us..

light a candle,
see it glow,
watch it dance,
when you feel low,
think of me,
think of light,
I'll always be here,
day or night,
a candle flickers,
out of sight,
but in your heart,
I still burn bright,
think not of sadness,
that I'm not near,
think of gladness,
and joyous cheer,
I have not left,
I am not gone,
I'm here to stay
my little one,
so when you light a candle
and you see it glow
and you watch it dance
in your heart you'll know
that I would never leave you
even when you feel so blue
I'm sitting up here with the Lord
and now watching over you

The Footprints Prayer

One night I had a dream... I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord, and Across the sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; One belonged to me, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of my life flashed before us, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that many times along the path of my life, There was only one set of footprints. I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in my life This really bothered me, and I questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, You would walk with me all the way; But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, There is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why in times when I needed you the most, you should leave me. The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child. I love you, and I would never, never leave you during your times of trial and suffering. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you. -

"What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word..one more touch. We may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good bye, but little by little, we began to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.....

My Thoughts and Prayers are with you and your family Ms.Bean....
