Richard L. Gallagher

November 3, 1942 - July 27, 2025

Richard "Dick" Gallagher, 82, of Lancaster, NH, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Country Village Nursing Home, where he had been a resident for just a few weeks as his health declined rapidly. His passing came just days after celebrating 59 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Cheryl.

Born in Barre, VT, on November 3, 1942, Dick was the son of Leo and Olive Gallagher. Known for his friendly and outgoing nature, he had an offbeat sense of humor that brought joy to those around him. He worked for many years at Whitefield Hardware and Lumber until he suffered a stroke in his late 50s. Despite the challenges that followed, he faced life with gratitude and resilience, cherishing time spent with his children and grandchildren. Throughout it all, he was blessed to have his loving wife by his side.

He was predeceased by his parents, his brother George Gallagher, and his sister Mary Jane Holmes.

Dick is survived by his devoted wife, Cheryl Gallagher of Lancaster, NH; his son, Tim Gallagher and wife Michelle of Berlin, NH; his daughter, Brenda Gilding and husband Victor of Grafton, MA; and his daughter, Joanna Flynn and husband David of Lancaster, NH. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and three sisters: Ruthy Queor of Barre, VT; Corinne "Kookie" Douse and husband Harold of Milton, VT; and Harriet Michaud of Littleton, NH.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
