Richard George "Dick" Majer

Richard George "Dick" Majer, 81, passed away on February 14, 2024. He was born on April 21, 1942, in Chicago, IL.

As a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Dick always put his family first and was quick to brag about his kids and grandkids. He loved the Chicago Cubs, Washington Commanders, the guy's annual Outer Banks fishing trip, telling tales of his travels with Dora, and gardening, particularly tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and radishes. If you asked, he was always fan-damn-tastic. Additionally, Dick was an aspiring author who self-published two books and was working on a third at the time of his passing.

He is survived by his daughter, Leigh Dudding, sons John Majer and Jeff Majer, granddaughter Zoey, and grandson Jude. Dick was preceded in death by his father, John Majer; mother, Emily Hegyera Majer; brother, William "Bill" Majer; and wife, Dora Rawls Majer.

Dick had a distinguished military career. His journey in the military began in High School with the ROTC, which carried him to the US Navy, where Lieutenant Majer served as a submariner during the Vietnam War. He was a proud veteran who served his country with honor.

In his professional life, Dick began his engineering career at General Electric, worked as a federal employee, and excelled in building and managing real estate projects. He held a Degree in Engineering from the University of Illinois Chicago and a Master's Degree in Business from Old Dominion University.

Dick worshipped at Doctor Martin Luther in Chicago, IL, St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Portsmouth, VA, and First Lutheran of Norfolk.

A service to celebrate Dick's life will be held on March 2, 2024, at 11 am at Christ The King Lutheran Church, 9800 W Huguenot Rd, Richmond, VA 23235.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors in memory of Dick Majer.
