Richard William Prince, 49, was taken to eternal rest by the rainbow in the sky on August 27, 2016 in Sunrise Beach, Missouri. He was a native of New Orleans.
Richard (Richie) is survived by his beloved wife of 18 years, Melissa Tufaro Prince; his adored children, Paris Alyssa Prince and Richard “Braden” Prince; his parents, Bobbie Chaisson Melan and Norbert “Nun” Melan, Jr.; his father-in-law, Peter R. Tufaro, Sr. and mother-in-law, Patty; his sister, Christine Gary; step-sister, Leslie Chapoton (Glen); step-brothers, Norbert Melan, III and Norman Melan; brother-in-law, Peter R. Tufaro; his Godchildren, Britton Cosse, Michael Gary and Toni Gary and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Prince; sister, Jean Prince; his paternal grandparents, Edward and Grace Prince and maternal grandparents, Joseph and Sedonia Chaisson.
Richard “Richie” William Prince was a successful business man with a passion for speed. He was a kind, generous and loving father who enjoyed traveling, racing and boiling seafood with his family and friends. Richie was always known to love vibrant colors as you see in his dump trucks and toys. Richie was always working on something: his trucks, boat, dragster and yellow pad bucket list. He accomplished many things he wanted from life and acquired numerous awards; including but not limited to numerous poker runs, car and bike shows, 2002 SBI World Championship, Gulf Coast Offshore GPS Competition, Mississippi Gulf Coast Shootout, 2008 Lake Havasu Gran Prix, 2013 Texas Outlaw Challenge and his most recent prized possession NHRA 2016 Dragster Championship.
Richie will be missed dearly by his loving family, friends, dedicated employees and all who had the pleasure of crossing his path in life.
Sincere thanks to all of our out-of-state friends, family and local friends and well wishers that have been so compassionate and generous. We are truly blessed. Shine on Richie!
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home on Friday, September 2, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. until service time.

It is almost a yr on Satuday. It has been extremely hard. There is not a day that passes that I don't think if you. I feel so empty and alone with no one left. I miss you and Jeanie even more. Our conversations were few but we had many through the years that made up for time missed. The last time we really talked we promised to make memories together, I needed my big brother. Every morning that I drive over the causeway to work, I think of you. Every time I see the sunrise so beautiful I feel it is you, my grandma Breaux, grandma Grace and Jeanie. I truly miss you. I can't imagine how your kids feel without you. You were a wonderful husband and father. I will always be proud.

My heartfelt thoughts go out to Melissa, Paris, Braden, my mother and father in law Bobbie and Nunnie Melan and my wife Christina Prince Gary. My heart is breaking more than I can express in mere words and I would like each of you to know that I'm here for any and all of you if you there is anything that you may need.
I pray for the families that are grieving the loss of someone they loved dearly today. Lord heal the hurting and be with the one that is alone after losing their loved one and give them the strength to go on. Be with the children that lost a parent; heal their broken little lives and hearts. Be with the parent that has lost their child. Be with the sibling that has lost their brother. Please heal the broken and heal the hurting. Touch them with your healing hand today. May the Holy Spirit be with them to give them peace in their hearts.

So glad Richie came our way. He was a mover and a shaker in this, sometimes, Ho-Hum World. He progressed and succeeded at many things, but none more than his eighteen year marriage to Melissa, and his two wonderful children. He blended well with my Tufaro family and added greatly to it with Paris and Braden. I enjoyed witnessing the gathering of friends who seem to gravitate to Richie at any occasion, those friends and family are now helping to cushion the grief of his loss. He wil be missed deeply by all that he touched. I know he has found his peace, "somewhere over the rainbow" in heaven where he is at rest. RIP Richie

So glad you came our way, and blended lives with Melissa and my Tufaro family. Your biggest contributions are Paris and Braden. Your cup deserves to run over with praise for all you have given this World. I enjoyed seeing, and being a part of, the friendship that surrounded you wherever you went. Those friends and family surround you now to lift you "somewhere over the rainbow", where your heavenly family awaits. RIP Richie

Mr Richie Prince,
You were a great guy. A good man. You always treated me well with a big smile and kind words. I'll never forget our friendly "argue" conversations on cats vs V-bottoms. LOL!! You were never conceited or self centered. Always generous. You certainly were taken away too soon. I'm glad I can say I shook your hand. You will be sorely missed. I'm deeply saddened.

Those of us that knew this big heart of a man know a few words can never describe who he was and who he touched with his unselfish heart. My Dad is 92 years old and told me a story how Richie came to slidell with his mom. And how Richie called him up to buy him breakfast and to meet her. What a fantastic story he had to tell. Goes to show how he stayed in touch with folks that helped him along the way. What a stand up guy. Bless you and your family Richie.

I will forever embrace your kind words regarding my Sausage business and Gator 1,
"You awe right? looks like you doing good, keep it up" was always the first words even before hello. What a guy this Richie Prince, his simple none flamboyant smile, the way he held his drink when wading in the water, and by far the love for his family. You will be missed my friend and assure you I'll keep doing good with you now watching over me.
You did life right and I'm proud to call you the best of friends one could have.
