Richard Scott 'Dick' Shotwell
age 83, of Carrollton passed away, Sunday May 20, 2012 at Great Trail Nursing Home in Minerva. He was born Sept. 6, 1928 in Carrollton, Ohio to the late Jay Vergil and Martha Bernice (Long) Shotwell. Dick was a lifetime resident of Carrollton. He retired from Tennessee Gas Pipeline in 1991 after 39 years of service. He was a member of the Carrollton First Methodist Church, a member of the Carroll Lodge #124 F & A.M. where he was treasurer for 31 years. He was a 50 year member of the Masons. He was a member of the Carroll County Vet's Club. He graduated from Carrollton High School, where he took movies of the Carrollton High School football games for 28 years. He was also a Carrollton Village Councilman for six years.
Dick is survived by his wife, Betty Louise Brumbaugh Shotwell; two sons, Dr. Mark A. (Candice) Shotwell of Slippery Rock, Pa., and Steven J. (Linda) Shotwell of Carrollton; two daughters, Randi Shotwell of Fraser, Colo., and Jody (Arthur) Macek of Indian Trail, N.C.; a sister, Mrs. Frances (Don) Johnson of Minerva, Ohio; six grandchildren, Caroline, Clayton, Melanie, Megan, Claire and Scott; two step- granddaughters, Julianna and Wendy; one great-granddaughter, Sheridan; two step-great- grandchildren, Kallie and C.J. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Marilyn.
Funeral services will be at the Allmon Dugger Cotton Funeral home in Carrollton at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012 with Pastor Mike Doak officiating. Calling hours will be at the funeral home Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 7 to 9 p.m. with Masonic Services being held at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carroll County Hospice or the K-9 Mobility at
www.K9S4Mobility.org.
