Richard M. Steiner, 79, of Fayette City, died Monday, March 10, 2014, at 9:03 a.m. at Monongahela Valley Hospital, Monongahela. Born March 7, 1935, in Herminie, he was the son of the late Raymond G. and Clara Lisbon Steiner. A resident of Fayette City for the past 53 years, Mr. Steiner was Protestant by faith, was a retired fitter from the former Hillman Barge Co., Brownsville, loved new cars and enjoyed going to the casinos. He is survived by his wife, Leila Breckenridge Steiner, to whom he was married for 55 years; three sons and daughter-in-law, William Steiner of Fayette City, Thomas Steiner of Charleroi, and Charles and Misty Steiner of North Belle Vernon; a daughter, Valerie Canigiani of Fayette City; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Raymond and Vickie Steiner of Jacobs Creek, James Steiner of Smithton, Robert and JoAnn Steiner of Perryopolis, Ronald and Mirabeth Steiner of Philippines; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Irene and Jim Santello of Donora, JoAnn and Dave Bowers of Chambersburg, Audrey Breckenridge of Herminie, Ester Gillis of Jeannette, Bonnie and Greg Schwab of Grindstone; four grandchildren, Tara Steiner, William Steiner, Hayley Steiner, Sebastian Canigiani; a great-grandson, Colby Canigiani; and his beloved pet, Sweetpea. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Steiner and a sister, Mary Curran. Visitation will be held 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATIONS, Family Owned and Operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183, followed by funeral services at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Wayne R. Boring of First Christian Church of Fayette City officiating in the funeral home. Condolences accepted at the funeral home's website, http://www.parzynskifuneralhome.com.
