RICHARD Y. WRIGHTSON 1921-2011 Richard Wrightson, 90, of Brush Prairie, WA since 1992, died May 21, 2011. Richard was born in San Diego on May 27, 1921. He graduated from San Diego High School in 1940 and joined the U.S. Navy the same year. Richard married Alice M. Rausch in 1941. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary before her death in 2001. Richard spent 22 years in the Navy, was a World War II veteran and retired as a Master Chief in 1962. He worked as a Quality Assurance Representative for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in San Diego and Los Angeles until his retirement in 1982. Richard and Alice were active members of the Lemon Grove (CA) United Methodist Church for many years. They moved to Hockinson, WA in 1992. Richard and Alice became members of Mill Plain United Methodist Church. Richard faithfully served as the greeter for Sunday services. Richard also volunteered for Southwest Washington Hospice until 2008. Richard is survived by three sons, Richard (Violet) of Vancouver, Thomas (Amy) of San Diego, and Steven (Tacey) of Brush Prairie, WA; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Mill Plain United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m., Sat., May 28. Viewing will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens on Fri., May 27 from noon to 9:00 p.m. Internment will take place at a later date at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southwest Washington Hospice or to Mill Plain United Methodist Church. Special thanks to Canyon Creek Adult Family Home and the Ray Hickey Hospice House for their compassion and care.
