Rick Day entered this life on March 29, 1954 in Oakland, California born to Melba Lorice Fowler and passed from this life on March 4, 2016 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 61 years, 11 months and 4 days.
After graduation from High School, Rick attended Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Valley CA. and received his Associate's Degree. He worked as a general contractor in San Francisco and later as a machinist until his retirement. He married the love of his life, Glenda Kay Taylor on June 23, 1984 in Walnut Creek, CA and they moved to this area 25 years ago and they have owned operated Day's Daycare in Atoka for many years. Rick was a Master Mason and a Shriner. He loved his Harley motorcycles and classic cars, but his greatest joy in his life were his grandchildren and family.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, Burt Burnette; sister, Sue Grant; father in law, Guy Taylor and nephew Joey.
Rick is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Glenda Kay Day of the home; mother, Jean Burnette of Pleasant Valley, CA; children, Janelle Matthews and husband Wes and their children, David and Elizabeth of Okinawa, Japan, Clayton Day and wife Kendra and their children, Malorie and Parker of Durant, OK and Victoria Yarbrough and husband Dalton and their son, Daxton of Pax River, Maryland; mother in law, Mary Taylor of Durant, OK; sister in law, Kendra Moad and husband Bill of Boise, ID; brother in law, Jack Taylor and wife Suki of Seattle, WA; great nephew, Tyler Ballard and numerous extended family and friends.
A celebration of Rick's life will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Brown's Funeral Service Chapel. Pastor Monty Wood will officiate. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery with Clayton Day, Chuck Jones, Humphrey Miller, Erik Beau, Bobby Lewis, Mike Simpson, Bill Moad and Travis Williams serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Jackie Taylor. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6-8 PM. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfuneralservice.com.
Arrangements are under the direction of Brown's Funeral Service, Durant.
