Robert Joseph Cobb, 89, of Florence, passed away Friday Feb. 8, 2013.
Visitation was Sunday, Feb. 10, 5-8 p.m., at Spry~Williams Funeral Home, Florence. The funeral service will be Monday, Feb. 11, 11 a.m., at Jackson Heights Church of Christ with Brother Barry Garrett, Brother Kelley Smith, Brother Brian Jarrett and Brother Steve Shelton officiating. Interment will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Steve Hines, Brian Hodges, Doug Hill, Tommy Hodges, Jason Nunley and Ed Hines.
Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Hodges, Gilbert Hodges, Conor Brennan, Bobby Irons, Buddy Kelly, Buddy Arnold, Charles McClure, Bobby Holley, Greg Hodges, John Arnold, Flin Barnes, Joe Swazzo, Wallace Morris, and elders of Jackson Heights Church of Christ.
Mr. Cobb was a member of Jackson Heights Church of Christ, retired from NASA, where he attended all space launches, activated batteries for all Rovers, and met four United States presidents. Mr. Cobb served in the Navy in World War II.
Survivors include wife of 67 years, Louise Cobb; daughters, Janice Hines (Ed), of Florence, Jeanette Speegle, of Florence; brothers-in-law, Franklin Hodges and Gilbert Hodges (Nadia); grandchildren, Jason Nunley (Anya), of Portland Tenn., Kellee Brennan (Conor), of London, England, and Steven Hines, of Cullman; four great-grandchildren, Madison Louise Nunley, Vivienne Rose Nunley, Austin Joseph Brennan and Callum Desmond Brennan.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, American Cancer Research.

Mr. Cobb seemed like a person who lived his life to the fullest. Now he's asleep hoping to hear the words Lazarus heard when Jesus resurrected him saying "Lazarus come out" meaning from the grave. So for now rest in peace.
