Robert Crouch Obituary

Robert Paul Crouch, Sr., age 89, of Hopewell and formerly of Henry County, died Thursday, December 27, 2012, at his home.

He was born on May 6, 1923, in McDowell County, West Virginia, to Emmett Crouch and Agnes Hunt Crouch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Annie C. Galyean, Hazel C. Cornett and Mary C. East, and seven brothers, Ashby Crouch, Charles Crouch, Edward Crouch, Kenneth Crouch, Minor Crouch, Thurman Crouch and Waldo Crouch.


He was a United States Army veteran with twenty years of service, including World War II. He was a member of the Christian faith.
He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-five years, Rosa Deal Crouch, of the home; son Robert P. Crouch, Jr. and daughter-in-law Clara J. Crouch of Mechanicsville; son Douglas A. Crouch, of Charlotte, North Carolina; granddaughter Emily C. Vitan, and grandson-in-law Nathan Vitan of Arlington; three great-grandchildren, Henry J. Vitan, Theodore P. Vitan, Ellen D. Vitan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 31, at Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Karen M. Shelton and the Rev. Brian J. Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Patrick Springs with military honors by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.

Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Virginia Foundation, 1700 Bayberry Court, Richmond, Virginia 23226.
