Robert Joseph Ditton

Robert "Bob" Joseph Ditton Jr., 76, of Eatonton, GA and Naples, FL, passed away suddenly on Friday, June 17, 2022, at Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center in Macon, GA.

Bob was born on October 13, 1945, in Joliet, Illinois. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert J. Ditton Sr. and Elizabeth (Bedford) Ditton, brother, William Ditton, and sister, Patricia Ditton. He is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine (O'Connor) Ditton, two daughters, Kelly Barber of Naples, FL, and Michelle (Mark) Matarelli of Castle Rock, CO, and five grandchildren, Robert Belom of Stockbridge, GA, Ryan (Lauren) Belom of Kennesaw, GA, Madison Parker of Naples, FL, Keagan (Ryan) Kotalik of Loveland, CO, Sarah Matarelli of Castle Rock, CO, two great-grandchildren, Ryan Belom and Nora Kotalik, numerous nieces and nephews, and his favorite pets, Buddy and Holly.

Bob graduated from Joliet Township High School in 1963. He then completed an apprenticeship at Plainfield Tool and Engineering and worked there for 20 years. He then co-founded Metalstamp, Inc. in Shorewood, IL, and later Channahon, IL, where he retired in 2009.

Bob was a Deacon at Capri Christian Church in Naples, FL, and was very active with his church community. He enjoyed golfing, boating, fishing, crazy neon tennis shoes with matching shirts, and loved spending time with his family and friends. Bob was the guy that everyone called to fix anything and everything. His greatest love in life was his wife, Gerri, whom he met at the age of 6, started dating at 15, and they were married for 56 years. They renewed their vows on their 50th anniversary. Their love for one another was an inspiration to all.

A memorial service will be held at his residence (in his pride and joy barn) in Eatonton, GA on Friday, July 1, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be another service held in Naples, FL over the winter (date TBD) at the Capri Community Christian Church.
