Robert (Bob) Girgus was born in Maspeth, NY to Israel and Catherine (Sansone) Girgus on March 14, 1951. He was the youngest of nine children.
Bob attended the local schools in Maspeth. He attended SUNY Brockport where he received his bachelor’s degree in health education. After teaching college for a period he transitioned to the food service field.
Bob has managed several bars in NYC. He is best know for his work at The Blue Room. American Trash, and most recently The Spotted Dog. Bob definitely had the gift of gab, a quick wit and an amazing sense of humor. He was strong, sensitive and helpful to those in need.
His 2 favorite passions were the New York Yankees and talking/watching anything to do with politics. He was ecstatic to see Aaron Judge get his 61st home run. It’s been said Bob’s dining room doubles as a Yankee memorabilia store.
Bob is survived by his loving wife and best friend Janet, his sister Connie Amaturo of Palm Coast. Florida, several nieces and nephews and too many friends to count.
Bob touched many lives while he was with us. I’m sure he will continue to live in the hearts of all those who were blessed to know him.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers a charitable donation be made in Robert's name to Saint Jude Hospital

Bobby...you and I...you were probably to many what you were to me..because all I ever see you is counsel people into the right path..
No disrespect to my father who is now with you in heaven, but between the two of you and my big brother. there's only one path I had no other choice of taking...
And it the results show it was the right one.
And there's not a day that I don't think about you and how fast you left us....
May God keep you warm in that cold place called Heaven and may your spirit keep everyone else on their best behavior...
Until we meet again Bobby,
Your Buddy...

Today was such a special day of your love for Bob, he touched many hearts. I’m so glad I had the chance to meet him and have a political debate with him and as he would say I want to teach you.
You are my friend and will always be in my heart ❤

Miss you Bob (Pappabear)!
My manager/co-worker and friend❤ I’ve never known anyone more honest (rare in the bar business) who fought so hard for his health and for his family and for the job. I have amazing memories of the laughs, the silliness and the words of advice you were always willing to help me with. Heaven is a better place with you there.
