News Death Notice

LYONS, Robert D. (Bob) Born on January 6, 1933 in Cincinnati, Ohio and died on January 21, 2013 in West Chester, Ohio. Bob grew up in Cincinnati and graduated from Withrow High School (1951), the University of Cincinnati (1955) and the University of Cincinnati, College of Law (1959). He served in the U.S. Air Force as a radar specialist where he attained the rank of Captain. Bob was a lawyer, entrepreneur, businessman and farmer. He started many businesses in the Greater Cincinnati area. He and Mrs. Lyons bred, raised, trained and showed champion dogs and horses from Lyonhil Farm in West Chester. He was a past president of the Cincinnati Zoo Safari Club. He and Mrs. Lyons traveled extensively with the Cincinnati Zoo, and the Cincinnati Nature Center to many places including, Africa, India, China, Europe, South America and the Galapagos Islands. Later in his professional career he practiced law with his son, Rob, at the law firm of Lyons & Lyons Co., L.P.A. until his retirement in 2004. The son of David R. Lyons and Lucile Lyons (Van Blarcum). Proceeded in death by brother, Lawrence Lyons (Sallie). Bob was survived by wife, Katherine Lyons (Hagen) who he married on August 29, 1953. Bob was also survived by son, Robert Hagen Lyons (Bea); daughter, Cydney Lyons; grandchildren,Chris Xeil Lyons-Stubenrauch (Douglas), William A. Lyons, Robert A. Lyons, Kara H. Lyons, Katherine Fant; step-grandson, Philip Stubenrauch; cousins, Mike Lyons and Beth Hueil, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Memorials can be made, if desired, to the Cincinnati Zoo, 3400 Vine Street, Cincinnati, OH 45220. No services are planned.
