Robert McTeague Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 24, 2015.
Mr. Robert F. "Red" McTeague, 80, of Gloucester passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, November 22, 2015 with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband to Katherine "Kitty" (Karvelas) McTeague with whom he shared 43 years of marriage and true companionship. Bob was born September 12, 1935 in Melrose, son of the late Robert F. and Florence (MacDonald) McTeague. He was raised in Wakefield where he attended school. Bob has resided in Gloucester for most of his life. He was the owner and operator of McTeague's Storage on Pond Road for many years until his retirement. He previously worked for the Local 534 Cement Finishers Union for 20 years. Bob will always be remembered as a kind, loving, man who was so dedicated to his family. He will be remembered as someone who lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed golfing and was a long time member of The Rockport Golf Club where he achieved his first hole in one. He and Kitty enjoyed travelling and wintering in Naples, Florida where Bob would enjoy a daily golf game and sunk his second hole in one. He was a true sports fan; whether it be the professional teams or his grandchildren's numerous activities, he watched with great pride and enthusiasm. Bob was a self taught man who became very influential to those around him. Those who's lives he touched were better simply for having known him. He was an avid reader, enjoyed card games and puzzles as well as spending time with his many loyal pets throughout the years. There was not a machine or anything with a motor that Bob could not master. In addition to his loving wife and best friend, Kitty, Bob is survived by his six cherished children Linda A. Wasuta of Jefferson, NH, Diana McTeague-Scott and her husband Philip of Berlin, VT, Eileen M. Fitzgerald of Wenham, Maureen E. Lane of Gloucester, Joseph C. Fitzgerald and his wife Sandra of Essex and Julie Ramsdell and her husband James of Gloucester. One sister Cynthia Damon of Wilmington. His adored 16 grandchildren Zachary, Gregory, Nadia, Zoya and Jacob Wasuta, Amber Marsh, Aidan McTeague Fitzgerald, Dylan McTeague, Julia and Sophia Lane, Evan, Alanna and Connor Fitzgerald, Alyssa, James and Tyler Ramsdell. His son-in-law William Wasuta of Jefferson, NH, his brother-in-law George Karvelas and his wife Judith of Gloucester. Bob is also survived by many nieces and nephews including Karen Pieri, Louis Raffael, Charles, Christopher, John, Anthony and Charles Karvelas. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law Julia Karvelas and his brother-in-law James Karvelas. Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend Bob's Prayer Service at the Pike-Newhall Funeral Home, 61 Middle St. Gloucester on Friday, November 27 at 4:00 PM. The family will then continue to receive family and friends after the Prayer Service during a time of visitation until 7:00 PM on Friday evening. The family would also like to invite family and friends to a Celebration of Bob's Life on Saturday, November 28 at the Gloucester House, 63 Rogers Street, Gloucester from 12:00 noon to 3:00 PM. Donations in Bob's memory may be made to a charity of ones choice.

So sorry for your loss.
He was such a kind man. I first met him when I started the Magnolia Cribbage league and he joined. Later my son Andrew and his grandson Aiden became friends and he was always giving Aiden rides, sometimes to my house. I have only seen a smile on his face. He will be missed. I am glad I was blessed with his company.
